One day I was bored. And my windows machine was borked, so I took my little iBook and did some forum trolling and some spreadsheet mashing and came up with the following info. This is basically a list of how much faster you get with your weapon as you increase your speed. There is a hard(ish) cap of 380. If you somehow through some magic hit 381 your weapon will be firing so fast it will take place before you even press the button. You will have entered the realm of negative time. And that my friends leads to chaos and a land without beer.

Use it as a guide to make judgement calls on just how valueble that +25 pistol speed CA is, or if master marksman is worth the skill points.

Speed %
0 100.0
10 93.6
20 87.9
30 82.9
40 78.5
50 74.7

70 68.6
80 66.2

140 59.3
150 59.0
160 58.8
170 58.6
180 58.5
190 58.4
200 58.3
210 58.0
220 57.7
230 57.1

yeah! that makes me feel pretty good about my 118 speed when holding a pistol. my accuracy and defenses are pretty damn high as well.

Every little bit helps, but it in INCREDIBLY worth it for me to pick up medical skills instead of a line that offers +20 speed. Actually, this thread has inspired me to go pick up the healing line of CM again.

I don't really need +105 speed to lay area states on people in PvP. Hell, my action costs with heavy weapons really like a slower firing rate anyways. I'd be a little bit better off with healing than being able to shoot 5% faster.

Interesting. So that ranged speed line in combat prowess is only worth about 2% speed reduction since my speed is around 90 something. Damn. There's got to be some way to make my flamer fast enough to be useful...

i value the added speed and accuracy of Master Marksman.

oh, can you do the same with accuracy? i'm interested to know how that effects things as well.

I'm still struggling with the whole speed issue post CU. I'm not sure how useful it is at all with all the warm-up and cool-down timers on specials...

I don't think I could... easily. Too many variables I don't know about. Accuracy plays off of defense for both damage done and chance to hit. No idea if the accracy vs defense adds a damage multiplyer or if it affects where within the min/max damage range the shot falls. How do levels play into this?

Too much of a headache and I'm a lazy ass If someone else pulls the data and grabs the forumla I'd be happy to turn it into somethign senseable though.

I can't even imagine what you would have to wear/equip/skillboxes in order to make your speed 380

.........

But I'm sure as hell gonna try!

m.bh/m.rifle/m.marksman/fs.speed
general ranged speed: 82
rifle speed: 65
total: 147

rifle speed ca: 25
general ranged speed ca: 25
weapon speed stims: 10
doc speed buff*: 40
jedi force speed buff*: 30
total: 130

Grand total: 277

That's the best I can do. BH beats smuggler by 10 points on general speed and rifle has the best speed mods out of the 3 ranged.

* Yeah I knoe they don't add they 'just make the cooldown faster' which makes me think they add to speed

Just questions, what range of speed are those numbers based on? 0 to 250?

The numbers seems to get a increasing effect when it is higher than240-250, when it should been less effective.

You are using a spreadsheet to find the equation, so that you can extrapolate to a “hard cap”. To me it seems that the equation is on 3rd order equation (Ax+Bx^2+Cx^3), what is the result if you try to fit it to a logarithmic equation (like A – B LN (Cx), or something similar)?

The hard cap is from when the numbers dip below 0. You can't have a negative modifier for speed. It just... well it's bad. Starwars is great because it's one of the few sci fi realms out there that doesn't screw around with time travel. Lets keep it that way

y = (- 0.0000000691935*x^3 + 0.0000371633*x^2 - 0.00675155*x +1)*100

y = total speed mod
x = your listed speed mod

replace 100 with the actuall speed of your weapon to get the actuall moded speed of your weapon
