I know we used to have the secretsmugglerhandshake comand, but its gone now. I was just sitting here watching A man apart, and realized, that even in our current socity we have a form of a underworld language.

I was just thinking that it might be possiable we could get our own underworld language at say underworld 2 or so.

What are you thoughts?

heh... We never had a 'secretsmugglerhandshake' command...

That was just people typing /emote gives you the secret smuggler handshake .

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

why not use rotwelsch? 16th century criminal-language of whole europe, from england to Italy, from portugal to poland.... hehe, only prob is, somebody able to speak it? lol

Oh, yeah, I know ONE sentence: Marchi ma kullo! => Kiss my ass!

to reduce to ability of normal players in speakin languages and comprehension would be a really good thing, lets say everyone get basic comprehension, and all can use it (except wooks), plus ONE additional spoken language/comprehension, and maybe another additional comprehension. Would be much more starwarsy. I mean, why do we get a plus 100 on language compre if it isn t worth anything... Oh, yeah, I forgot, we can "talk" to Java junk..... dealers, AND can listen to chatting Twi Lek girls in cantinas, what MIGHT be funny, but isn't something I would die for....

Me, macro "Rogue's Cant".

/emote mutters to %TT in a broken cryptic street tongue.

Then I wait to see what they do.

If you're looking for a more role-playing over a "crunchy" system, you can always swing by your local library and see if they have any one of a dozen dictionaries of slang. Many of the good ones have terms that go back hundreds of years and have fallen out of the vernacular. Since the real-life underworld has a large slang vocabulary you can find some good words and phrase to work into the game.

Then it's just a matter of seeing which ones you like and which seem to "stick" in game. Of course, you can alway throw in a little Star Wars jargon to the mix and see if you can't come up with something even better than the original.

The Language Brad Pitt Ostensibly Spoke in Snatch

But I prefer

the language of the Gypsies

Because it's more diverse, borrowing from pretty much every language From India to Spain even the language of the Travellers above, and is actually easier because a lot of the words have evolved into English or are very similar to Latin based equivalents (ie. if you know a little French, or Spanish, or Italian, you can pick out words easier)

I always liked that feature of MUDs. Especially in MUDs that hadthe gameset up so that races were pitted against each other. It added a sense of immersion.Yeah, I'd like to see languages get nerfed (limit the amount of languages one can understand and speak)for sure, whileadding in some GCW specific languages for rebels and imperials, as well asa pirate language.

'Course with nearly everything else going wrong in the game right now, I don't see this happening anytime soon, but still

True, but nothing says we can't develop our own Underworld language to use in game. I think it would be a blast to develop our own "language" to use with fellow Smugglers in game.
