Smuggler Archive
Thread: Smuggler speak.
That was just people typing /emote gives you the secret smuggler handshake .
If you're looking for a more role-playing over a "crunchy" system, you can always swing by your local library and see if they have any one of a dozen dictionaries of slang. Many of the good ones have terms that go back hundreds of years and have fallen out of the vernacular. Since the real-life underworld has a large slang vocabulary you can find some good words and phrase to work into the game.
Then it's just a matter of seeing which ones you like and which seem to "stick" in game. Of course, you can alway throw in a little Star Wars jargon to the mix and see if you can't come up with something even better than the original.
But I prefer
the language of the Gypsies
Because it's more diverse, borrowing from pretty much every language From India to Spain even the language of the Travellers above, and is actually easier because a lot of the words have evolved into English or are very similar to Latin based equivalents (ie. if you know a little French, or Spanish, or Italian, you can pick out words easier)
I always liked that feature of MUDs. Especially in MUDs that hadthe gameset up so that races were pitted against each other. It added a sense of immersion.Yeah, I'd like to see languages get nerfed (limit the amount of languages one can understand and speak)for sure, whileadding in some GCW specific languages for rebels and imperials, as well asa pirate language.
'Course with nearly everything else going wrong in the game right now, I don't see this happening anytime soon, but still ![]()
