Just was wondering... If being jedi is illegal to begin with why would it matter if thier light saber is sliced?

it doesn't matter anymore... there was a very short period of time when it could be done... there is no way it can be done now cause you can't get it into the hands of a slicer by the old tricks... and in a few days all sabers will become contaienrs and evern if you are a force sensitive smuggler there won't be any slice option.

as to a real reason why? it just doesn't make any sense. As a smuggler we shouldn't have the foggiest idea how it works or what to do with the thing if we did pry it open.

its bannable and I know people who have done it. I know how to do it but I'd rather keep my account.

well.. ok.. perhaps theres neewr tricks that still work [that i don't know about]. i still really don't think that matters anymore as all sabers are gettting rebuilt in 3 days.

Also the DEVs stated that slice sabers won't give back pearls and will be useless, so it's not the best idea a Jedi could have.

I wonder at how well this is written in though... By that I mean I wonder if sabers that were sliced on every previous generation (but the 5th gen is unsliced) will still break down properly, and give better pearls...

I actually don't think it would have been as big of a deal if people were just slicing the final gen saber, but every step along the way would just create crazy sabers... On that note, I don't really understand why they can't be sliced now since this problem would be negated...

This post is brought to you by the letter G

I'm a forum poster that used to craft weapons, but now has nothing to craft...so I post about it. Give me a role to play and I'll be a player that posts again.

It made for incredibly powerful sabers, since a jedi needs a previous gen saber for each saber- you slice the 1st, then the 2nd built with the first- pretty soon you've got the slicing bonus adding up to sabers much more powerful than they should be.

Because it makes no sense for a Smuggler to be able to slice it in the first place. Jedi, and only Jedi are capable of constructing Lightsabers. Only Jedi understand how they work, so Smuggler's should have absolutely zero clue as to how to then modify and improve the weapon. Not to mention, that a Jedi's Lightsaber is personal to that Jedi, so he/she isn't just going to hand it over to some bumbling Smuggler with no clue how the thing works.

well, Weaponsmiths and onlyweaponsmiths can build weapons, but smugglers that aren't weaponsmiths can slice the weapons

You're forgetting ONE slight detail there KenthH....

Us smugglers need to use Weapon Upgrade Kits to slice weapons. Who makes those? Ah yes, that would be Weaponsmiths.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04
