Haven't heard much on this front so I'm wondering because I'm looking at developing a new character. I'm tired of my current.

I believe they said they would like to change it from Pistol to any ranged at some time (but would require that they rework the pre-req system). I wouldn't expect anything until the smuggler revamp at the earliest.

I agree with Krux-
It would be EXTREMELY hard to change and I think GM would like to avoid it- but no one knows for sure.

The way I read it was that having a flexible pre-req was something GM *wanted" to do, or at least thought would be cool, and not something he wanted to avoid. HOWEVER, his mentioning of it was very preliminary and he warned that the difficulty of doing so might prohibit him from changing the pre-reqs at all.
So, to the original poster, its simply conversation at this point and nothing to go planning your chars against yet.

This would have to be very difficult. I mean if they changed the pre-reqs what would happen to all of they people that made master smuggler that no longer have the pre-reqs? I mean take Pistoleer/TKM/Smuggler. What would happen if they make the pre-reqs Ranged Support for example. Now that Master Smuggler no longer qualifies for Master Smuggler. How would you fix that? It would be a big problem to change the pre-reqs. Not saying it's a bad idea, just not sure how they could go about it.

Thanks all. I'm just hoping they come through with it if at all possible.

Everyone that mastered smuggler already has the prereqs to get it so they may allow us,temporarily, tomake changes to two prereqs of our choice.
I know there's no serious need, but there is a need to change them. For all the work we had to do in the brawler unarmed portion of the brawler tree we have nothing to show for it. And as an elite profession (hyrbid, yes I know we are, but that's not a good reason) we are no better than a marksman with pistol 4. Sure we have the specials, but take those away and what do we have? Our pistol speed is still the same as are our defenses.

I don't think they have the resources needed or a serious reason to change it.

If they changed it to any brawler skill tree and any marksman skill tree it wouldn't have a direct affect on any existing smugglers, but would allow us to change our weapons of choice whilst still maintaining a similiar combat ability to those who do like TKM/Pistoleer/Smuggler. Personally I hate unarmed and I think pistols suck, so I have no combat skills outside of what I need cause I don't find them fun.

Yeah, it'll be tricky for them to find a way to make it happen. My guess is that the reqs will be as follows...
master any of thebrawler lines + master rifle, carbine, or pistol in the marksman lines. This way the skill points remain the same and everyone will still be able to maintain their existing professions.
As a side note..... Scaht, if you spam the boards consistently like you have today. People won't bother to read or care about your opinions. You seem like a nice guy. But please offer us something a little more constructive than what you've posted today.
