Any real differance and if so how much of a differance? Can a slicing 4 smuggler still get the 40% slice? Is it alot less of a chance that you will get a good slice?

Ok I see in the faq that a master can hit the 35% slicing mark on weapons and at slicing 4 you can only hit 30%. Is it true that slicing 4 can only hit 30% on weapons or is it just less likly you will hit the 35%. Also hitting a 35% slice on a weapon is hard but is it just as hard for a smuggler with slicing for to hit the 30% or just the 35%.

I would say it is not true. I have hit a 35% on weapon slicing before and I only have slicing 4. Thats all I know about the subject though I have heard a lot about there being some hidden bonus on Master smuggler but never seen it in action.

When I ground up Smuggler the #'s in the FAQ are the ones that I saw. THere is an increase and I've yet to see a slicing 4 hit a 35% on a weapon.

And I'd love to see a screenshot showing you getting that 35% weapon slice.
You probably recall seeing 35%, but it was on an armor piece.
The most I, or anyone I know has seen with Slicing IV is what is in the Smuggler FAQ - 30% on speed and damage slices for weapons.

So would anyone say that it is really worth it to ghrind out everything eles on smuggler to get that extra 5%. And how much of a chance is there to hit 30%-35% as a master smuggler? Id think hitting 30%+ as a master smuggler would be pretty common.

it was never a problem with how often I hit the highs, it was the problem that my lows at slicing four improved at master smuggler. I hate low slices so going to master was worth it. If you want to have any kind of business as a slicer they wont want to go to you if you get the crappiest slices they have ever seen, even if you can hit 30% at four.

The thing you must remember is Masters don't slice 5% better. They actually slice 16 2/3 % better on both the high and low ends forspeed, damage, andeffectiveness slices and 12.5% better on encumbrance.
Not to mention many people only allow Masters to slice thier gear, if you wish to slice commercially.

I held the Master title for quite some time (about 9 months), and finally dropped to slicing 4. There is a substantial difference between the two, at both ends of the scale. I haven’t sliced “commercially” for a long time for that reason, and now I only honor rare requests. I always inform people that I am not a master smuggler, I think it’s only fair that they know my skills are no longer the best. I slice my own gear, and have learned to count a 25% slice as a really good one for my weapons. At the master level I could always count on hitting over 30% eventually.
My toon is force sensitive and soon I will leave the ranks of the smuggler. I will likely return with my unlocked toon when/if the revamp ever happens. It’s not worth the skill points for me now, but if I were going to make slicing a main income source I would get that Master title back for sure.

Well all I was gonna use it for was the slice my alt's weapons and armor 35% slices are very rare with good krayt weapons ect and 30% slices are rare but also very good. But if its just as hard to hit 30% with slicing 4 as it is to hit 35% at master I might as well just go master. But if it's not as rare then no point is really needed to get the extra 5%.

Well I've recently made it to Master Smuggler and out of say 150 slices my lowest percent has been 17% witch I've only gotten twice. Overall I've noticed a big increase in my average.
