Thread: Idea for BH missions including the incorporation of smugglers and actually smuggling.

I posted this in both the Jedi and BH forums and since it included some thoughts in regards to smugglers and some content for you guys I thought I would post it here as well.



One of the biggest complaints for Jedi is the loss of XP they suffer. We also see some BH's that like the hunt but don't really care about causing a death. I was reading through some posts and an idea occured to me while reading the following post....







The whole idea of anonymous only missons is just plain stupid. A bounty is a legal document issued in the Empire by the Imperial Office of Criminal Investigations (IOCI). It would include all available information and would look something like this:


WANTED - DEAD or ALIVE

Species: Wookiee Sex: Male Age: 180 Homeworld: Kashyyyk Known Associates: Multiple Jedi criminals


Bounty: 200,000 credits Classification: Corporate Application Conditions: Dead or Alive Bonus: None Determent: None


Crimes: Homicide of a security officer (2 counts) Numerous customs violations


Originator: Lord Alric Oorsil, ExO and Prex, Oorsil Enterprises Receiver: Oorsil Enterprises Security Division headquarters, Alaris II Prime, or any regional Oorsil Enterprises office.



Brief: Subject killed two security guards while effecting an escape from a heavily fortified installation and violated numerous customs laws while fleeing the system. Subject has a familiarity with a wide range of weapons, particularly the Wookiee bowcaster, and excels at lightsaber combat. Subject also has a propensity for the use of explosives. Subject owns and operates anFirespray B Light Interceptor registered as the "Treestalker." The vessel is known to have a heavy weapons loadout and several false transponder codes, all with a Kashyyyk-oriented theme. Subject should be considered heavily armed and extremely dangerous.

After reading this myself I thought hmm... Dead OR Alive. Why in the world do we always have to kill our Marks. Why don't we have a variety of missions with different goals. While some missions may require us to Kill our Mark, another type of missions may require only to incap our target in order to bring them back "alive". You get the idea. Having some sort of warmup/cooldown timer for a"Capture" instead of Deathblow option.Obviously this needs some sort of Counter to it so that it's not exploited for the credits, but perhaps if it's this type of mission the Jedi loses credits instead of XP. I would also think since this is an easier type of mission typically that it would have a lower payout. But there would be no way for a Jedi to know the difference between these missions until the end, and even if a BH were to tell the Jedi that they only need to incap, not actually DB how many Jedi are going to believe the BH lol. I'm sure many BH's will attempt to tell the targets that they only need to incap when in reality they need a DB and as soon as a Jedi lets themselves be incapped then the BH can DB at their leisure.


Anyways this was just a quick thought I had, that I thought might add additional content and give some variety to the missions. There may be other "styles" of missions to use as well, I just can't think of any others atm.


I also think that we could give smugglers a little content by allowing them to "smuggle" the Jedi around. Basically what I mean by this is that a Jedi can Hire a smuggler, in doing this it forces the BH to deal with the smuggler first and then the Jedi, either giving the Jedi time to escape, or helping to weaken the BH. On a related note this could also be another variety of mission in which the smuggler participates where the smuggler is the target, and not the Jedi.


So to sum up my ideas....


BH 1st mission - Jedi wanted Dead


BH 2nd mission - Jedi wanted Alive (incap only, failed if DB or triple incapis performed)


Jedi mission defense - hired smuggler to "smuggle"/guard them. (could default to an NPC smuggler if no available player smugglers are available).


BH 3rd mission - Take out jedi guardian (the smugglers, see above).



I also think it would be fun for the "Capture" mission if once the Jedi is incaped and "captured" they go to a loading screen, at which point they are teleported to a "prison" or holding facility. At this point the BH has completed their mission and can go on his way, but for the Jedi there is more content. The BH has recieved his payment, but the Jedi has not yet taken their loss. It should be up to the Jedi's ability to escape the prison in one piece in order to determine their loss of xp/credits etc... If the Jedi can successfully escape then there is no penalty, or a reduced penalty. But if the Jedi can not escape without dying then they recieve the full penalty.
