I sliced a Special made Trandoshan rifle. Base stats 2.67 speed, 1143 damage (yes 1143), 82 sac (capped).

I sliced for damage the 2 percent, and got the weapon to 1165.

I sliced for damage the 4 percent and got the weapon to 1183

I sliced for damage the 8 percent and the weapon stayed at 1183 (1183 is max cap limit on rifles, found this out later)

So why is it allowing me to slice a weapon that is already capped, that will do no good? This needs to be fixed where a slice will take you to the cap limit, but will not let you do another slice.

Ive sliced some weapons that that was capped from the weaponsmith, and the message for the slice was that "this weapon has exceeded its maximum rated damage" They need to do the same with our damage slices.

needless to say we could have saved 20 percent customization and used it torward speed.

heck of a way to find out the cap limits and waste on a very ubber rifle.

Thoughts and Opinions?

Same happened to my ALR. Submitted ticked, more or less told to deal with it, nothing will happen, but watch patch notes for any further changes to slicing. That was a bunch of pubs ago, so get used to it

Yes it sucks, we should be allowed to slice over the caps. Genrally i check the stats before slicing. Theres a list of caps on this forum some where which gives all the caps.

No,

The main problem being is that we USED to slice to the weapons cap, and we would get a warning if the weapon was already capped, and the loot would not be consumed.

Now they lowered th SLICING caps, and now we no longer get the warning.

This MUST be addressed.

We SHOULD be able to slice to weapon's caps if not beyond! We are "modifying" the weapon to exceed it's limits.

I'm sure this is 'as designed'.

Well... it's 'as designed' that the slicing caps are below the crafting caps... not that it makes any sense at all.

And yes, it would be awesome if the implementation of our new slicing system included such user-friendly information like "applying this customization will not improve the gun and you'll lose your mad lewt". But that would be... you know... user/smuggler-friendly, so who really cares at SOE?

I'm tempted to suggest a somewhat helpful and intelligent way to handle this issue, but there's no point since it won't be taken seriously anyway. Oh, well...

Assuming we're stuck with the stupid slicing caps below the crafting caps, if applying a customization would take the weapon damage over the slicing cap, we should be told something like "It looks like this illegal booster core can't be fully utilized by this weapon. It will only boost the damage 'X' percent. Do you want to use it anyway?" It gives the smuggler information so they can make a decision or ask their customer what they want to do. Also, if a lower-level damage (or whatever capped property) customization takes the item to the slicing cap, a message should be included in the "You have successfully increased the damage output of the weapon by 8%" message to include something like "It doesn't look like it's possible to do any more damage with this gun, even an illegal booster core wouldn't help."
