I received a e-mail today that got me thinking. Here it is:
"can i buy some factory crates of recon and battle cores from u. i make armor pretty much for my self. dont need many. just enough for 2 sets of scout trooper armor and 2 sets of 2 sets of storm trooper armor. that is all im really needing for now. thanks."
Now, here's some opportunity for some roleplay. I'm a rebel smith. I can't very well be outfitting Imperial regulars. But I'm also greedy, and I don't want these guys going to the Imperial competition for their armor either. So what if I say "oh, I'm sorry. My cores don't meet Imperial specifications for blah, blah, blah, but I know this guy who might be able to get you what you need." A smuggler would then get the cores from me and make the transaction. Now I just have to find a smuggler to help me out. I may be a smuggler, but I'm not a Smuggler, and doing it myself would defeat the whole purpose.
Taking this one step farther, what if members of opposing factions couldn't trade with each other. Only a smuggler could. A pain, I know, but interesting? Tedious? I don't know.

I'd do it for ya in a heart-beat, but I'm onthe wrong server. Sounds like a good idea and lots of fun.

Would be great, but don't ever count on it happening.

Opposing factions only being able to trade through Smugglers sounds like a good idea..... so don't count on it happening.

Great ideas, and whatnot, but, to the common player/whiner....this is evil.
I had a discussion with some guildmates. Most of them said it puts too much dependance on smugglers. I cited the "This is Star Wars" defense, and threw a curveball with the "Evil Empire" retort....to no avail..... ![]()

About the "job".... GREAT idea. Again, can't help you, my Smuggler is on Chilastra. But I love your way ot thinking. That's the kind of roleplaying that can really improve the game experience. If it wasn't that all my friends are on Chilastra, I would be tempted to move to a RP server. ah well.
About that idea of making members of opposing factions unable to trade directly... I am of two minds. Sure, sound nice, but a lot would complain it is a pain. But my main concern is that it also rob us of some roleplay possibilities. What if someone want to roleplay a traitor, or a double agent? (being in game a Rebel but roleplaying it as infiltrating the Alliance for the sake of the Empire, helping Imps players anyway the rules allow, giving infos on Rebels bases, locations, strenghts, etc)

what if smuggler could "hide faction" say a person wanted to be overt for pvp but didnt want let others know it, a smuggler could "hide the overt statius" and let the player go about his or her bissness, the "hidden faction" would drop as soon as a player attacks a oposing faction NPC OR PC, but if not attacking he looks like a "normal citizen" to both npc and pc alike

This used to be the case with Overt players. Is it still the case for SF players?

Great, being banned is bad.
It's ok, I said what I had to say, but as you can see I was not out to get you either.
No bad blood here. *offer beer and pie to Tralita*
