I'm of the opinion that we should use "Smuggler" xp for Underworld, "Slicing" for Slicing, "Pistol" for Dirty Fighting, and "Unarmed" for Delinquency(sp) -
Any thoughts?
Obviously, the requirement of "Unarmed" would also suggest some form of Melee special.
And frankly, I'd like to see any melee specials we have be usable with a pistol equipped. But again - That's me...

I am not shure about the delinquency, wasn't able to check it realy out since I crash CPZ-style on TC lately. If that is the place with the unarmed mods, yeah.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing some melee specials in the Delinquency tree (or melee attacks with pistols--good idea), I'm not entirely certain that it wouldn't be better to use this "smuggling" experience in the Delinquency tree. Reason being that smugglers aren't supposed to resort to combat, and certainly not combat that might get them caught; employers probably wouldn't appreciate it. While pistol XP makes sense (it's a good weapon to use in a getaway), the idea that a smuggler should use his fists often doesn't sit right with me.
Seems more proper that, the more a smuggler smuggles, the more delinquent he becomes, no?
There's my 2cr, plus a tip of one more for a good idea.

And what would you suggest we DO for "smuggler experience"?
Maybe when we get our revamp...LOL.

What I want to know is if they are taking Slicing XP out of the tree, will Slicing XP still be ussable for Force Persuasion and Luck? If not, my grind to get those two trees is going to take me years, with only a little bit of Scout.

I really dislike the XP change. Before, i had to slice to be a smuggler... and while crafting spices wasn't exactly "right", at least I had a variety of things to do, so if I got bored shooting things, i could go spice or slice a while
Now it's just one more combat grind. Whoop-de-friggin' do.
Apparently, this is the price of having any sort of combat role.

The UA mods are in DF not Deliquency.

This would be once we can actually Smuggle, but here's what I think experience we should need.
Underworld - Smuggling Experience
Slicing - Slicing
Dirty Fighting - COMBAT Experience(Since all of our ranged specials work with any ranged weapon, and we get Unarmed skill mods, doesn't it make sense to break it down to the most universal form of experience gained through combat?)
Delequency - Smuggling Experience
That's how I see it, anyway.

I'd like it to be split as before...two trees with non-combat-related xp and two with combat-related xp. Ideally, one of pistol and one of unarmed, with a few unarmed specials to go with our mods in DF. I'd also like to see a few pistol mods added. "Smuggling" xp will be great once we get our revamp.
I believe Slicing xp should be returned to the slicing tree, it was a difficult enough grind for those not wealthy enough to purchase an insane ammount of containers at Novice. If they are worried that the Slicing tree now has combat specials, they could always cert the clamps and FANs until we reach the appropriate level, making the grind harder. Slicing xp is also an excellent way for us smugglers to get the two FS trees most suited to our lifestyle, Luck and Persuassion.
Ideally, here is how I would do it.
Underworld tree - Pistol xp (add pistol mods to this tree)
Slicing tree - Slicing xp
Dirty Fighting tree - Unarmed xp (add an Unarmed special or two, such as a kick to the groin or throwing sand in someone's face)
Delinquency - "Smuggler" xp (sub combat xp until the revamp)
I think that would round out the smuggler prof xp requirements nicely. I think the Devs are forgeting that their are those Smugglers out there who are non-combat types, such as AS and WS smugglers who have the profession for business reasons, and some light combat. The Smuggler professions is a jack-of-all-trades, not strictly combat-oriented. We are part combat, part crafter, part salesman, part service. Trying to force Smuggler into a total combat role, as the current xp requirements do, is the wrong way to go, IMHO.
Of course, our fabled revamp is right around the corner, so perhaps these xp requirements are not set in stone, and we will see some interesting changes after the CU.
