We all know that panic/lowblow/lastditch was the ultimate (and only) smuggler combo on live, but I've been trying desperately to find a combo with our new specials that equals or betters the old. Here is what I've found so far...
Against Melee
ConcussionShot/PanicShot/RecklessShot
This combo freezes the melee player to the spot allowing the smuggler to get to the more desirable range of 35m. Using the concussion/panic combo I've managed to freeze melee players for as long as 40 seconds allowing RecklessShot to be spammed and eliminate the player before they can even move.
If you also add restraining shot into this mix, the melee player can't move, is paused and when they CAN move their speed is heavily reduced.
Against Ranged
So far I haven't really found a good combo for ranged. LowBlow doesn't seem to work even when mixed every other special we have... not sure if thats "as intended". No doubt some of you have found combo's that work... post em
So far my ultimate conclusion is that smuggler is a very good combat profression but more effective against melee players than ranged.

I was trying lowblow last night and I found that the targets never fell from it.
Maybe it has to be the first shot to be effective? I hope not!
But I was testing MS/MP with NBH and NC: the extra range from the LLC was nice touch.
and all the specials that worked worked with every weapon.

We get a move that's supposed to increase the chances of a posture change on the target .. can't remember what it's called. I figured using that first and then lowblow would increase the chances of a KD but it seemed to do nothing. I'm thinking that maybe both this posture change increase and lowblow are currently bugged ... you can't make a move with a description of "almost always results in knocking the target down" that NEVER knocks a target down.. hehe
I found the dizzy recovery and KD recovery VERY useful.
I would say that right now, smuggler completly rules over melee combatants. As yet to see how good we are vs ranged

Low Blow has to be bugged. I have used it many times and not a single KD yet. I tried other KD's to see if they worked. The pistol special(Firearm Strike) KD's pretty regularly and the BH KD(the one thats pretty much the same as Low Blow) produced a KD almost every time.
I also noticed that restraining shot doesn't appear to do anything. The description sounds like it should be similar(not same as) to stopping shot. I haven't noticed a reduction in the target's speed at all.
Reckless shot produces nice damage and will probably be the main damage shot for most smugglers.

The only problem with reckless shot is that its slow and leaves you vulnerable to attack.
Lastditch now seems completly pointless. It does a good 2-3k damage but at the cost of killing your health.
I've just been fighting a carbineer and his moves do 1-2k dmg regularly ... we are now completly outclassed to other ranged professions in terms of damage.
Pistoleer/Smuggler just doesn't currently hold its own in a ranged firefight. Though Concussion shot makes us the ultimate melee ganker. Very odd mix

That IS the point. Now it truly is a last ditch attack. It does more damage the closer to death you are so it can really save your butt in a close fight. I've done about 4k damage in PvP with it and a lot more in PvE. Sure it drains all your pools, but that's the point: a last desperate attack before you buy the farm, if it doesn't succeed you're toast. I love it.

Yeah Snore but the problem is that last ditch is only worth while if you've managed to get your opponent's health down to below 50% .. any higher an last ditch is a waste of time. It won't change the outcome at all ... and because pistoleer/smuggler has NO high-power shots, when it comes to ranged we get ganked every time unless your oponent doesn't know what they are doing.
Fact is, because smuggler and pistoleer are both "crowd control" we simply don't cut it in ranged combat. You will NOT win any fights against a non-noob ranged combatant. Simple as that. I don't think smuggler is going to fair well with pistols unless you just plan to fight melee players. Mix Smuggler with Carbines and its the ultimate in ranged and melee though

So THAT's why that sh!t didn't work! I tried it on that Huurton last night but only hit for like 60 some odd points or something. I was like." WHAT!?" and then I was on my back.
Yes. I agree completely.
We will be best at getting away from a situation with our rooting shots but combinning MS with MP I think is overkill. You need to hook up with a damage inducing prof to level yourself out-
Now if you take MS/MP and BH 0040 then you are getting some damage shots from your BH line and your pistols should be okay.
Personally I think people with MBH or MC or Rifles added to their Smuggler Temp are going to be a bit scarier.

Hotdog, Last Ditch works by using all your action points. However, it also then minuses all of your health points from those action points.. the final result is what decides on the damage you do.
So, if you have lots of action but lots of Health, the resultant Last Ditch shot will be very weak since your health will cancel out the action points. If, however, you have praticaly no Health but praticaly no action points you would again have a very weak Last Ditch shot. If, however, you have praticaly no health but lots of action points the Last Ditch shot will be VERY powerful.
I've managed to hit for 4k with a last ditch shot today, but the problem is that when armour reduction and defense mods are minused from that in PVP 4k becomes 2k or less... so when you are fighting someone with 4.8k health, you can see how un-affective Last Ditch really is UNLESS you have already got their health down to around 2k.
Last Ditch may work out well in PVE .. especialy if you can faign death right after using it... but for PVP it will almost always get you killed.
*IF* lowblow starts to actually KD then its possible it will be enough to start tipping the balance in the smuggler's favour in combat against ranged profs, but I can't see it being that effective.
As it stands, all Smuggler moves except Advanced Reckless Shot (ARS)are doing between 1-65 points of damage. ARS seems to do what ever dmg stat is on your weapon.. so if you're using a 300-700 pistol it will average 300-700 against someone wearing battle armour. In comparison, a BH with Carbines can do 1-2k dmg PER hit. You see where we are completly outgunned
