Yes, but while it look 'cool' the max stats are exactly the same as the Renegade except that the Renegade has slightly better wound %.
So basically the DL44xt, Renegade, DL10 and DX2 are, in their maxed out condition, identical except for slight variations in wound %.
For all practical purposesthat set (Renegade, DL44xt, DL10 and DX2) is only ONE pistol with different graphics. I guess some people call that "variety"...I don't.

Right now, I think that variety based on visuals only is not necessarily a bad thing. That way, you'll be seeing several different pistols used by those who favor them. Back pre-CU everyone who was a master pistoleer either used DE10s or Geos.
Of course, a better way would have been that each of those pistols does different things but are still relatively 'equal.' Like maybe the Renegade has a longer range, but packs slightly less of a punch. Or maybe they do different damage types.
It might be lazy programming, but it's the easiest way to keep us from all being clones.

Obed, I'm sorry to disagree...wait, no I'm not...but it DOES make us all clones. Just like having only 3 HAM components that we can't modify makes us all clones. It may not be visual but all are the same now. I don't like it one bit.
They COULD have given each weapon different but balanced attributes as you suggested with the range. But instead they opted to dumb down the game and substitute variety of graphics for variety in depth. Bad move if you like immersive games.

Personally, as someone who has enjoyed both rpg's and fps's for as long as I've been able to hold a controller (or as long as they've existed, in the case of fps's... I find this new system an interesting combination of the two genres. There will be variation in the weapons, though it will have a cap. And the difference will not be very significant. However, how you use your weapon and specials will differ from the next guy, and that's where the depth of combat comes in.
I guess you can think of a duel in the CU like tennis or chess.
It's like that in fps's. Everyone has the same availability of weapons, in some fps's the individual characters have slight bonuses to one area or the other, depending on type, but the main deciding factor is the skill and tactics used by the player.
PVP is now more involved because you have to respond to the other player. In live right now, your best chances in pvp are if you just ignore what your opponent is doing and focus on killing them. In the CU it's a constant back and forth, he does this, you do this.
If you're looking to gain an edge, might i suggest preordering ROTW? Those cybernetic limbs' mods are SICK. A Bothan had his legs replaced, and his new legs are 40% faster and have their own built in burst run.

Several people have said that their XT on TC says its a Master Smuggler cert. When did th is happen, and who do I thank for it?

Happened a few days ago. No idea who you should thank for it--might even be yourself. Those of you who made a reasoned ruckus about it and provided all the Star Wars background information on the DL44 may just have been heard by a lurking dev, though it's quite possible they came up with it on their own.
In any event, while I was with the side that thought we had bigger fish to fry and should leave that issue be, I really appreciate the work you guys put in to explain the DL44's relevancy to the underworld and why it made sense that we'd be certed for it. It might have paid off here.

Isn't it enough that such a classically Star Wars weapon has not only been made functional, but is certed for the profession it was associated with?
Still waiting for the EE3 carb in the MBH box tho ![]()
