ive been testing the solo game and it is nearly impossible. you MUST have a one-on-one fight and you need to have some way of slowing or rooting your enemy if you are towin.my testing was done at 80 and at 56 fighting both npcs and creature + or - two levels of my mine. theenemies just 2 lvls higher than me or less, did way too much damage for me to actually compete with them. they were not a "tough fight," they were an impossibility averaging about 950 points of damageagainst me while firing a lot faster than i.

the ones that were on my lvl or 2 lvls below, they didgood damage to me but they werent completely impossible to beat. i just had to use everything available to me for the win - knockdown, roots, slow. even in victory i came awaywith a limp.

mytesting was done with 3 different types of chars basically. mBE/CH/novice carbineer -lvl 56. mBH/mP/carbineer3000 - lvl 80and mCM/mDoc/pistoleer0004 - lvl 80.

Well I finally got in long enough to recreate my MS/MP/BH0040 and went and did some testing.

I won't go into the shots that are broken, that has been covered.

But what I did try to do, over and over, was fight an even level (78, I'm 80) Valarian Compound Guard. I was using a Renegade pistol from the frog, no slice, no PU.

After trying over and over a number of combinations from the two tool bars chocked full of specials from all three professions...and being incapped over and over without hardly scratching it...I decided to sit, heal and review the combat logs.

I noticed it was using Aimed Shot and Placed shot on me for around 600 damage with my armor absorbing about 300. So, I decided to reply in kind and loaded up Aimed and Placed shot on my tool bar and re-engaged.

I typically did it 700-800 damage of which it's armor absorbed around 300.

We pretty much evenly traded shots and had an equal number of misses on each other.

Result: I was incapped LONG before I could get it's health down to 80%.

Conclusion: Can't take on even con mobs...at least not the Valarians.

BTW, FD worked but the silly thing stood over me aiming it's pistol at me and NEVER retreated. Stayed right there till I stood up at which point it incapped me and wondered off. So what use IS FD? Unless the plan is to stay on the ground until friends arrive.

The Valarian was using a D18 btw.

I had on Tantel from the frog, the advanced version.

I was actually doing it about 20% more damage than it was doing me and I used a Stim D part way through the fight and was still incapped before it was below 80% health.

To me it looked like it had about 5 times the health I did...maybe around 15k.

I thought these mobs were suppose to scale with us. If it is even con then shouldn't it have the same health, the same specials available and the same basic armor and weapons?

lokidevil; "Also Smuggler really lack an advantage against ranged opponents."

Except that I was Smuggler/Pistoleer/BH0040 and the NPC was using a pistol...a D18 at that.

We should have been nearly evenly matched.

We were fighting at about 15m and I was outdamaging it shot to shot.

Like I said it either had 5x my health or 5x my regen rate so I think you're right, NPC are drastically overpowered ATM.

I agree. They are overpowered. It would be nice to mix it up a bit- where a (very) few have like 3-5 times your hp. Here's what I did last night:

Okay, My template is:

Master Smuggler

Master Commando

Pistoleer 3000

TKA 4000

I was on dant. So I took a couple of missions- Huurtons and Kungas (or something like kungas)

Keep in mind Dant hasn't been balanced so the things I encountered weren't your normal type creatures.

I went out to the WP and found that theareahad quite a few lairs around. Probably missions that others couldn't finish.

My Huurton lair was next to a savage quenker lair and the kungas weren't far away.

I thought this would be a good chance to test out how much control I have with the Commando weapons because the majority of them have AOE.

I wasn't wearing armor- remember, I'm testing stuff out

I first went prone with the Proton Rifle. But it wouldn't fire. That's a known bug.

I switched to the LBC and before you know ita huurton agroed me pretty quick. Her level? 79.

I was using quickdraw and overcharge at first. But the creature wasn't going down and before I knew it I was on my back counting down the incap.

I got up. Took too long getting back to my mount and she incapped me again.

This time I got up and rode off a piece til I could get my head together.

I came back but this time went to the Kungas. They were level 56.

I used the LBC to get one's attention.

As he ran up I used Concussion shot to root and then placed shot and overcharge. I repeated this and it worked pretty well. At one point the Kunga got right up on me so I hit him with firearm strike (Improved I think) and he fell. This is going to be one of my FAVORITE moves.

Once he was down. I used concussion, ran back a couple of feet and laid in to him with specials at random.

It didn't take long to finish him.

I noticed my TIA was taking damage. Not a lot but I only have one line of TK.

Pumped. I decided to go back for the Huurton. This time with my standard Rebel Assault Armor on.

I have to say, when I originally saw this armor I thought it was ugly. Then as it grew on meI thought it was "alright". Having worn it- I must say this Armor looks KICK ASS. I definitely wanna have a set for live- I just hope it comes in different colors but I highly doubt it.

I digress...

I found theHuurton and she incapped me in about the same amount of time as before.

This time however I noticed that her health barwas regenerating REAL DAMN FAST. I would get a shot on her and then next thing I know half of the damage I had done would come back!

I rode off andregrouped. This time Ipicked up a weapon that DoTs. The Plasma Flame thrower.

I hit her with concussion and restraining. Dropped back and flamed her with overcharge, placed shot, and the like.

I could see herHAM struggling with the DoT.Her health was slowly dropping. Whenever she got close I would Firearm Strike her, root her, back off andhit her with whatever special I wanted to test out.

Using this technique I was staring at her corpse in a little longer time than it took me to whack the kunga.

Satisfied, I decided to go to Talus where I heard there was a rebel base and an Imp base placed near each other. I never found it though.

I continued to search for balanced creatures to fight but only found level 8 Aqualishes. I didn't even bother.

So I logged out.

It's going to be sad if the only people who can deal with the Mobs' regen is someone with a DOT...

I don't think it will be that way for everything- like I said, Dant hasn't been balanced yet.

Things to note here are:

These new creatures can really be made hard to defeat. I think it is going to be much easier for the Devs to put in challenging material- as opposed to just ampin' some creatures HP.

And if they want to lighten up: change the regen rate on that Huurton and I'm not going to have such a hard time with it.

Also, by changing my tactics I was able to overcome this vicious sheep looking thing that was eating my ass just a little while ago.

Some other things to take into consideration is I'm not familiar with Commando weapons. There are probably better ways to handle that situation. Another thing is, I think if I had used my Renegade I might have dropped more damage quicker when it came to the actual fight.

I should experiment with opening using the Flamethrower and switching to my Renegade. I haven't noticed that big of a delay in switching weapons since sometimes you are waiting for a cooldown phase anyway...

As far as I can tell there is no delay time between armour or weapons now in combat or out.

I beleive there is a problem with NPC's being overpowered yet creature mobs of the same level are relitivly easy to take down.

Also Smuggler really lack an advantage against ranged opponents.
