Thread: My thoughts this far on the CU

Finally my thoughts on the CU. I've been having too much fun to post at all on the forums (plus the forums won't let me post with Firefox and I have to use IE now 
)
)From my perspective as a pure ranged combatant I am in love with the CU. I love that I don't get beat down by every melee profession in the game. I like that I never have to get buffs. I like that I'm seeing every type of armor used. I love not getting laughed at when I bring my pistols to a PvP encounter. I love my new Czerka dart carbine. I love root. I like that knights are more afraid than they are now. I love that my pre nerf krayt FWG5 converted to 950 without a powerup. I like the fact that I looted some +142 gorax bone this morning. I'm loving my Msmug/MBH template, it allows me a great deal of RP diversity. I like the hate tells I get after I kill one of the 1337 knights (I do refuse to hunt people who RP their jedi).
I'm not to fond of the new icons but I'm allready startiung to ignore them and think of them as F1-F12. I'm really wanting to get them to blanace all the planets. I want them to increase krayt difficulty, a smuggler/bh should not be able to solo an ancient krayt in just a few min with a pistol fer crying out loud. I'd like to feel bad for melee but after almost 2 years of abuse from then I really can't. I'm not huge on the new slicing but am waiting till our revamp to get up in arms. I don't like that my DE10 converted to crap. I am bummed that my 450 geo blaster converted to sh1t but I knew that going into it. I hate that bomb droids got broken with the last patch.
While there are some glaring bugs I expect many of these to be cleared up in the few weeks. I think the CU overall is a big step for SWG. I've having more fun than I have in over a year. If something is done soon about the lack of stuff for entertainers I will consider the CU a pretty good success.

Go to your Profile->Preferences and turn off the WYSIWYG Editor, then you can post again with our all favourite browser (which really was a problem cause I mostly go to the forums with my Linux only laptop, but at least there's the workaround)

I think melee is pretty tough at the moment, because of two reasons:
1) many people have not yet spent time to "relearn" their profession. Many melee people are still on the old "get a buff and best Comp armor available and kick each ass you can find for 3 hours"-trip.
2) On the other hand there _are_ some big problems with melee. I recently did some missions on Lok with a Swordsman and a Fencer who both had big problems. And not only because of the new system but because of the fact that they just get hit quite hard and need to be near. I've never been a melee guy (grinding Unarmed IV when I became smuggler was the worst skilltree I ever got), but the fact that those two players who were really good before (and even unbuffed!) gave me the feeling that something's wrong with melee at the moment. Especially if I as a Smuggler can win every duel vs. melee just by "rooting" the opponents.
