Thread: armor still necessary, renewing my push for Smuggler Armor that looks like clothing.
problem is the whole system is setup so you know what youre fighting without having to check profile badges etc. And smugglers would throw it off because people would take it just to get the hidden armour.
I would love to see all clothing be converted to armour. I have a cool social outfit I would love to be combat effective.
I thought so too until a csr got mad because I kept a good weapon and traded back a look-alike when I was slicing.

I can't really get into character with all that armorBut there's still no tradeoff for advanced armor for a level 80 guy, so it's completely and utterly necessary. And now that there's no armor hole, the full suit (excepting the now worthless hands and gloves) is necessary. Especially since still, the only decent armor I own is a partial suit of rebel recon (pre-cu marine) and a couple suits of composite. partial suit of rebel is worthless, need a full one, so I'm still in full composite... The Ubese I had converted as garbage, and was GREAT Ubese...
Anyway yea, so, it could be a cooperative effort between AS and Tailor, AS's would make Advanced armor plates, which would then be fitted into normal clothes, in a manner similar to SEAs. they would act like armor then, sliceable, only equippable by Smugglers(it's retarded that someone not wanting to draw attention to themselves would walk around in full Marauder)
could probably have Assault plates for BH too, they could benefit from a stealth armor as well, Walking up to a jedi in Full composite is like screaming I'M A BH!On an unrelated note I'm jealous of TKM's lack of armor
If you want to wear clothing while fighting just take up TKM, they got built in armor that is more or less as good as it's possible to make (you can make armor with specific protection that is better by maybe 5-10% but it will have over lowered lowered by the same).
ok my big concern here isnt that i dont want to wear armor but that the recon armor all looks retarded.... its a bit sad when mabarri is the best looking armor choice we have.. i suppose rebel recon doesnt look too bad but what kind of smuggler is going to be walking around in factional armor. An armored duster would be cool... anyway i just dont know how much longer i will be able to wear the ubese armor that i had to convert my padded to.
One question though as i dont fully grasp how the armor crafting works now.... are the different types of recon armor all the same in effectiveness, or are some better than others. Also does armor still afect special ability cost?
I like where you are going with this Max, and I support you all the way.I would also like to not have to wear armor as it detracts from my RPing of a smuggler.
I would actually even be satisfied with being able to wear a coat over our armor. I wouldn't mind just being allowed a duster or whatever that covers up 60% or so of the armor I have on. I don't think it is realistic for clothes to be armor only for smugglers, but allowing us a way to cover it up for the most part is realistic and immersive.

If you want to wear padded for example you will have to take up a prof certed for it but again, if you want to be armored and wear a duster pick up TKM, yes the duster isn't armored but can always roleplay it like it is because you will in practice be armored.
All types for recon have the same protection, the skin is just that a skin. Only thing that will differ is perhaps condition depending on what quality of res the AS has for this or that skin.

I'm pretty sure when they first mentioned the new armor system, they said appearances could be mixed and matched. Including clothing appearances. The implication was that what was visiblegave NO indication of what the actual protection was. And that clothing would be included in this design.
Guess that plan got scrapped somewhere along the line. And I'm too lazy right now to dig for the post. ![]()
