Thread: We seem to be the template of choice!

You are maybe exactly right. The long promised roles for our profession are coming and we have some "useful" combat skills. However, the new smugglers may not stay and if they do they are taking the roles for other than slicing and spicing. Have heart.
I hope so. I just know that when I played my BH or Commando and got that spiffy new set of armor or that dandy new weapon, my first action was to make a b-line for my favorite master smuggler and get a slice. Same when it was time to restock my spice supply (all my characters used spice religiously). With these new templates they can do it themselves.
I am even considering changing my BH and Commando templates to include smuggler. My BH had swordsman so I would get the benefits of melee defense, and my Commando had TK for the same. Now it's not really necessary, especially now that TK has the innate TK armor, a TKM doesn't need to wear armor but a commando does. I might as well go smuggler on both and get the nice specials. Also with the BH/Swordsman there is an armor conflict as well. The BH gets assault armor cert while the Swordsman gets the battle armor cert. Commando gets assault armor cert too.
Does smuggler get recon or assault armor cert?
Aglut of smugglers hanging around may be necessary if weapons are going to go 'out of tune' right and left as described in the smuggler revamp.
As I read those documents, I seem to remember only a smuggler can fix a weapon gone out of tune, so there could behuge demand for our services down the road too.
You know, that's got me thinking. Maybe the reason our slices are so low at the moment is because they don't want uber weapons built before our revamp. The revamp includes a progressive slicing system--more attempts to get either a speed or damage (or blend of both) slice--at the risk of having it more likely to go out of tune. Hmm...maybe we'll see weapons with 35% damage slices returning with a new twist--having them be very unstable. ![]()

Smuggler is one of the few professions that get certified for Recon armor.
