You could also find a crafting macro that allows you to skip all the clicking involved. I don't condone using a looping macro, but one that allows you to skip all the okays and clicking will save you a bunch of time.

Yeah, that's right, I only play one character.

Pick up scout and harvest a bunch of meats, then buy the cheapest metal you can find. Get a couple more crafting tools so you have at least 3 that can craft food, then put them on your toolbar.

Then it's just as simple as sitting around for a day crafting shadowpaw as fast as you can click the resources. What I did was go run some missions for a while, then make a camp outside of a town. While my wounds healed, I crafted shadowpaw. Did that a few days in a row, and I was done. You could probably finish the spice tree in a single day if you tried, but it was too boring sitting around hours at a time for me.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

Yeah, I used stuff I harvested from scout mostly and just ground away. I don't really bother with macros, so I did it the old fashioned carpal-tunel way (although if I knew how to make a macro that kept me from needing to click 9321644320147 times, I'd gladly have used one).

I don't remember exactly what it was I used. I remember making lots of booster blue and shadow paw I think.

Anyway, to make it less of a grind, I'd just do it during downtime, like while I was waiting for a shuttle or waiting to regen after a fight or mission. Rarely did I just sit around and grind spices for the sake of grinding spices. Sure, it took a little longer that way, but it seemed like less of a pain in the ass and it was still over before I knew it. The spice grind is the easiest part of smuggler IMHO.

I personally thought the pistol xp sucked the most balls. But then again, I didn't know about Quenker missions during my smuggler grind. /sigh

Quick tips:

  • Grind Shadowpaw. Only meat and metal as resources.

  • Grind on practice mode for the increased xp.

  • If (big if) Thrusterhead resources are easily available, switch to that.

Shadowpaw will do well for you. Without even having to experiment, it should go rather quickly. I believe Thrusterhead takes gas and one other pain in the arse type of resource so if you don't mind spending an extra hour or so grinding, Shadowpaw all the way.

Practice mode does not actually create what you are working on does it? By that logic it shouldn't use your resources then either right? You say practice mode gives you more xp, is it possible to then do the spice crafting grind with only one set of resources or am I missing something?

Practice mode gives 5% more crafting xp, does not create an item, but does consume resources. If you don't plan to sell the stuff you craft while leveling, you will do much better on practice mode. Not having to destroy items to clear inventory is a big help.

The tip about 2 crafting tools is right on point. It has been so long since I did the spice treee, I hadn't even thought about it.

Took me about 4 hours of crafting spice to get to spices 4... that was crafting shadowpaw mostly.
