Thread: Do I need Novice Medic?

Some say yes, some say no. If I drop Novice Medic, I can get Master Pistoleer, AND TKM. If I keep Medic, I miss out on TKM by one tree. Is TKM worth it? As we're gonna have to do pretty much everything in groups now anyway (*grumble* pesky devs, pesky nerfs *grumble*), could I not hook up with a Medic, and just get them to heal me if I get low? I went hunting with someone and it happened anyway - I let my HAM bars drop far lower than they did.

So yeah, do I give up Novice Medic, Knockdown, or Combos?

I don't know. I am starting to miss medic. (Not giving up my vendor yet, it's legit!) But, when you fight buffed, you do not need medic at all. If you are buffed, and have to use a stim-b, you're probably screwed...

Novice Medic is really nice when you're grinding lower level mob's that you dont' need a buff for. But once you start hitting Janta's and such and you're buffed Stim B's become sort of worthless. I had lots of medic when I was grinding out my proffessions and it saved me countless times. But once I got my professions I didn't need it anymore and I dropped it so I could get something else. Now I have it and find that with my template novice medic doesn't work very well. Because if you have to use it while buffed its going to take 3-4 heals just to get you back to full health, and by that time your mind is dropping. But if you're going to be running around with docs or cm's(now that they'll be healing more lol) you'll be fine. I'll be dropping medic again because I find myself not using it much. So I could use those SP for good use. Which I am. haha

I'm a Triple Master and I thought I'd miss Medic. I really don't, between FD'ing when I need to and the Meditation line from TKM, I'm quite content with my ability to heal wounds/Poison/Disease and avoid being incapped.

I dropped medic (I was 1100) after having it for several months and found that I rarely ever used it. I hunt PVE unbuffed often and just use food buffs and feign death saves you from time to time, but medic is definately useful if you have the skillpoints.

Personally medic is one of those skills I can't live without. For 15 skill points I can heal damage, heal wounds and keep my friends alive longer if things go wrong in any situation.

It is useful in PvP and PvE while Feign Death and Meditate are of arguable value in the heat of a pvp battle.

Well, if you add TKM, forget about medic unless you are worried about stopping bleeds mid-fight. If that's the case, you are better off making friends with a medic instead.

The only time I ever use medic skills now is when I'm in the cantina getting my BF healed. Yes, healing them, not myself.

I haven't missed it myself. TK Meditate let's me heal wounds and if I'm getting low on HAM, I Feign Death until the bars regen and then go back at it. I hear Force of Will is good for jumping right back up, but I haven't tried it yet (haven't had to, really). This is all PvE, though. Don't know if healing is necessary in PvP or not.

I'm with you, Caylin.

My present template is Master Smuggler, Teras Kasi Master, and Medic 4/4/4/0. This gives me first aid, quickheal, drag incapped player (very handy), and the ability to use some experimented stim-e's that only require 40 med use. Stim B paks are useless, sure.. but when I can go solo a group of 10-12 bull rancors and heal myself for 1500 points of damage, then go meditate away the poison/disease/wounds, I think it's pretty well invaluable.
