That's the message you get ("done enough already") when your faction points are 500 and above.
If the Smuggler's faction points are 500 or more, then you can't buy any more until you get to 499 or lower.

Faction points are gained by either running missions for your faction, killing NPCs of the opposing faction, PvP and killing the opposing faction (caution: if you get killed in PvP, you will lose faction), and buying the faction.
Well, I'm a neutral Smuggler and always will be until they install a 3rd criminal faction...but here goes. I suggest you read our FAQs and scroll to the faction point buying guide. Different/Higher ranks are capped on their faction higher than lower ranks (a colonel will be capped on faction considerably higher than a seargent). Higher ranks can also give other people faction (/delegatefaction) at better ratios. As a Colonel, you can /delegatefaction to someone at a ratio of 118:100, meaning that for every 100 faction you want to delegate you will need to delegate 118. You'll lose 18 faction points for every 100 delegated.
The ratio gets worse at the lower ranks and you can't get any better than Colonel.
If you want to climb the ranks, I suggest that you have another Master Smuggler/Colonel buy the faction and delegate it to you. You would only lose out on the standard ratio where if you delegated to someone who delegated back you lose twice. Just make it one transaction.
Please Click Here for more information on faction buying. Hope that helps.

bottom line ... either run missions or get a Smuggler/Colonel to help you out.

That's the same thing!
Either way, delegating 118 renders only 100.
"...for every 100 faction you want to delegate you will need to delegate 118."
If you want to have the end buyer receive 100, you delegate 118 because you lose 18 FP.
I hate when people "correct" me like that...
Nick: "The quadratic formula is 'minus B plus/minus the square root of B squared minus four A C all divided by two A."
Person: "No, that's totally wrong. It's 'minus B plus and minus the square root of B squared minus four times A times C and then all of that is divided by two times A."
Same thing.

While it ends up to you losing 18% over what you delegated, it doesn't mean you /delegate 118 target, it means you /delegate 100 target and it costs you an extra 18%. I get what you're saying, but the way you said it can potentially confuse people.

Its a sad thing that you have to expect that your customer is that dump. I mean some doesnt even do the simplest math...

What server are you on?
If you're on Starsider, and you're Imperial, I'd hook you up at a discounted price.
If you're not on Starsider, or you're Rebel, ask around. I'm sure you can find someone who would do the same for you elsewhere.

I never expect my customer to be dumb. But, I've never had to explain FP purchasing to a non-Smuggler. All the customer cares about is getting the amount of points they ask for. The process is irrelevent to them...
