Finally got around to training Novice Smuggler on Test Center and Immediately hit my stash of 13 locked containers I had saved up. Figured I'd report what I got because, well, I'm bored, but also its always nice to read a reality-check post of what is "normal" and not just someone coming in here becasue they're excited over finding a sweet DOT pistol or a force crystal. So here's what I got after opening all the containers in my pouch (including the extra container that was in a container - YAY!):

1 Locked Container
1 Armor Attachment: Cover:1
3 Clothing Items
1 Rebel Orders
5 Broken Widgets
11 Generic Weapons (CDEFs & Staffs)

Also of note, 2 of the contaiers were empty and the max items in any one container were 3.

So, what does this prove? Probably nothing - or maybe that I'm just unlucky - or maybe its just reinforcement of my belief that noone should bother buying containers for the sole purpose of hoping to find an item worth 250k. Not at today's container prices.

In 8 months or so in playing the game, I have gotten only one force crystal out of a container. Just one. All the other items were weapons, and clothing, and junk. There is no real bonanza to buying containers; all you are doing is paying 6K to get one more spin on the random loot drop wheel of fortune. MUCH less expensive to kill a meatlump or 12.

I'd accumulated about 14 containers from various sources and passed them to a friend who was working on Smuggler. My own hologrinding char has unlocked and is now back to 0/4/2/4 in the profession thanks to stored Slicing xp and I didn't need them. So off he went slicing them and about 10 containers in he calls out "yellow single crystal!". Much celebration and offers from guildies to read it. Then Chilastra got hit with a rollback.

*sigh*

Dude,

Loot sucks.

Got a "treasure map" yesterday when I ran into some unfriendly swoop gang guys (swoop gang dudes HATE me- seriously).
I engaged them because I THOUGHT I MIGHT get a locked container or two but no dice. Just this silly treasure map.

Waitaminute! A treasure map that could lead to a chest FULL of containers! Or at least one-

3 Dead pirates later I get the "treasure" which consist of:
a D-18 Pistol
a CDEF Rifle
a Belt
a broken thingamadoodle and
a that flush feeling in your face when you realize you just got juked out of a few minutes of your lifetime (kinda like goin to the movie theater to see "The Punisher")

If someone would point me in the right direction for these locked containers I would GREATLY appreciate it.

And since these things are so RARE (especially concidering a prof. needs so many at novice) you would think that they would have SOMETHING of value in them.

Ok... this wasn't meant as a **edit** session on my part, but if you need to vent go right ahead =) I've generally got little issue with the container's loot distribution... always thought it was similar to killing every meatlup I see... sure there's a chance at a force crystal, but that isn't gonna get me to kill everythign in sight everytime I fly into Dearic starport.

I just posted 'cause I think reports of "normal" are good, and sometimes needed to balance out the reports of "great".

And hell... I really couldn't be happier... that's an extra container and 11 unsliced weapons I have to hold onto for the grind later!
