Hello Fellow Members of the Smugglers Alliance (which apparently anyone can join),
As you can see by my signature, I have a wee bit of smuggling. But I have another character (High-Priest Jakan on Bloodfin), which I am building into a Smuggler 4-4-3-0. plus Doc 4-4-4-0, plus Pistoleer 0-0-4-0. I also have started my flying profession within the Alliance. On to my questions:
#1- I have just started pilot (love the bandolier), and am on - like - my fourth mission where you have to take out the Black Sun Ace. Everytime I take him on and get him down, he warps away. I have tried everything, having done this mission like 8 times now, to no avail. Any ideas? Is it a bug?
#2- What does the first line of Smuggler give you? How do you use that line?
#3- What are the benefits of going Master Smuggler? Are they strong enough for me to give up Pistoleer?
Thanks for help my sneaky brothers and sisters. Long live the Alliance!

Many questions you have...
This mission is a notorious pain in the ass...for me the guy kept circling so that I could never get directly behind him, my target recticle was WAY off on leading the shot so I just flew in circles for like 20 minutes pigeon-pecking his shields to death. Just keep trying, buddy. You'll get it eventually. Also make sure everything's running efficiently, because warping means you're not keeping up with the server. Might be a CPU problem.
#2- What does the first line of Smuggler give you? How do you use that line?
Boy, you like the sadistic questions, don't ya? lol! Underworld grants you two overall things: 1) contraband scan protection (which is worthless) and faction discounts and perks, which, when combined with Master Smuggler, boil down to one thing: The only efficient and viable way to really sell FP's. This is a lucrative but boring and time consuming business which is ENTIRELY dependant on your servers commitment to PvP and the GCW. So when people are sick of the GCW, they're not gonna be spending millions on buying bases and defenses. Also, if the Rebel side is kicking ass, and you're a rebel, expect the market to fall soon as everyone will probably bail for the Impire, and vice-versa. So in short, what's in Underworld? Not much unless you want to try your hand at the costly, time-consuming, but ultimately very profitable business of Wartime Profiteering.
#3- What are the benefits of going Master Smuggler? Are they strong enough for me to give up Pistoleer?
In a nutshell, the master box has everything and nothing in it. It has VERY little in it really. Better scan evasion (whoopity do), the final faction perk to make profiteering profitable, and the extra 5% slice bonus (widening your max by five percent for everything). But two of those things are REALLY important. You see, spice is in the toilet, right now. Very few people are buying. There are no combat goodies in mastery, and unless you're loot whoring, fighitng doesn't pay well. BUT, the two business that DO get a boost in the Master box, slicing and profiteering, get BIG boosts. Very few people will work with a Slicer. They prefer masters. You can't really sell FP's (as I said) unless you're a master. So the Master's box is the one that enables you to REALLY make money in this profession.
Hope that helped.

#1. Had no problems with it, just use the ] and target his engines, I disasbled him and then he was a sitting duck!
#2. Great for Languages and Faction Points
#3. Slicing bonus, not huge, up to you on giving up pistols, I have both and I like it that way!

Once you're targeting the guy you hit either the ] key (or is it ctrl ] ?) and that cycles through specific places to hit.

You can use the [ or ] button on the keyboard to cycle through targeted components!
use the nav com tutorial and go through the targeting section that will help.

I had trouble with this as well. The mission is timed. If you do not kill the ace in time, He hyperspaces out. I chased him in circles on 3 different missions, droping his shields to about 30%.
I finally got tired of chasing him and let him come to me. If you go head to head with him he is much easier to destroy.
Once he attacks you, flyin the opposit direction and target his Engines. (Use the "[" key). Watch your range indicator, when he makes his turn to come after you, drop to half speed and make a quick turn. Once you get him in your sights begin fireing and come to almost a complete stop. This will allow you to manuver just a bit and keep him in your sites. When he passes by you go to full speed in the opposite direction and repeat.(You should collide with his ship causing more damage to his ship) After 2-3 passes, his shileds should be destroyed and you will begin working on his engines. Once you have droped his engines, he is a sitting duck.
This works with most one on one dog fights with ships that are faster than you or if your lead indicator does not seem to be accurate.

Great idea ElPucko! I have learned a few things, both from this post and others. I upgraded my RAM from 512 to 1024, and believe it or not, that helped. Plus I forgot that while doing all these battles I was getting battle fatigue, which was a whopping 786! So, add some RAM and reduce some fatigue and things get a little more maneuverable. I tried once last night, shot a Mos Eisely air cop by accident that was also going after my baddies. This brought four others to the party along with the three targets from the mission. Everybody but the Ace died, but that was before I fixed my fatigue and RAM problem. Played once today, was rocking the Ace hard (even after a late night run to get Halo 2 last night had me sleepy) when the middle of screen lit up "LOST YOUR CONNECTION TO SWG", which hasnt happened in ages. My new RAM makes the space piece jumpy at times? Anyways, thanks for all the posts! I am trying to put all the great feedback to use.

I am sick and tired of people claiming to be smugglers. I am here to say if you are not a master smuggler, you are just a wanna be.

I disagree...we all were non-masters at one point. I'm one of the longest standings and it took me MONTHS to master smuggler (I was in no particular hurry) but I've always been a smuggler from the start.
