My thanks to Ternque01 for this wonderful guide on the Pistoleer fourms. Now for the updated offiicial unofficial guide with smuggler powers! /rofl I type in green, if you hadn't noticed.....

Preparations:

Carefully write and enclose any letters to family, friends, girl/boyfriend before battles. Try to make the letter neither too sappy nor too sad. Avoid statements which linger on negative experiences you had with those people as this is the last thing they will hear from you. Last impressions are nearly as important as first impressions.

Make sure you update your cloning data and reaffirm your life insurance as soon as you land on a new planet. Cloning at predesignated locations helps make that bug that causes 1% decay on insured items during a PvP death not occur. Very useful. Make friends with the Cloning receptionist. Buy her flowers, or somethin. Get to know her, she'll be doin the same.

Avoid eating more than half of your stomach fill or drinking half of your drink fill. After you clone (and you will) you could use that precious stomach space to re-enter the fight mmmmmmmmmmm, synthstake, the other colorful meat.

Weapons:

Make sure you invest in a good Geo sonic blaster.Against opponents with stun armor, PSG's, synthsteaks, and ranged mitigation 3, it is little more than a ranged speaker system.

In these cases pack a DX-2 or Modified Republic Blaster. DX-2's aren't hampered by shield gens. The DoT on the Republic Blaster helps to steal the mind of your enemy. You can buy valuable time in a fight as your enemy sits and wonders, "OMG I'm bleeding. Ohhh!!!! It's just a Republic Blaster!!! Whew!!!" The accuracy mods of the Rep. blaster make it an efficient rifle among other things. Very useful when you bleed someone with a CDEF, and you Feign Death. They'll think "Oh crap! A DoT weapon. You can sit at your computer laughing like a maniac while they run around in circles for a few seconds, allowing your Melee stacker friend to close in for the kill.

On the FWG5, nothing burns fur quite like a heat gun. Wookiee armor is vulnerable to heat! Wookiees almost always use PSG (personal shield generators) which protect against heat, so beware. Also applicable to Bothans, who sadly don't have anegative to hit mod because of their size....but, then they would be kicked back flat on their rumps because of the T-21's kickback, that would be funny to see, though. ("How the heck did that lowblow get through!!!111!!1!?)

One of the few unknown treasures you can carry in your arsenal is a pistol with any kind of high point blank range accuracy modifier. With melee being so prevalant, a point-blank mod will help. You can to an average of .33333 damage more to a stacker afterhit calculations to defense statisical mods. Why? In difficult situations where a mob of PC enemies approaches you, it can be a warming comfort that you don't have to be alive when they get to you. Sometimes it's better to make a quick escape than to confront a large enemy.

Gear:

If you're going to be going out, go out in style! If you bother buying expensive composite, it will decay. You might survive a few seconds longer, though....Compo is good to buyyourself time to type off asarcastic comment before dying. May distract your ememy from Deathblowing you, or hitting his COB macro he forgot to hit.Wear fashionable colors like orange, blue, yellow, purple, and green are in this season.Hooded robes are then new black compsite. Nothing says "I'm dead!" quite like colors! While composite comes in assortment of dull, dreary colors, never underestimate the lime green, red, or even the pink. This is your death make it one worth having! Wearing hawtpants in any of these colors may dizzy/blind/stun your emeimes for a few seconds, buying time for you to run, spit out a wittycomeback, or let your Riflemanspam Headshot3

Always have clean underwear equiped. This feature is very underrated. Can save your time, and money.

Group Tactics:

While you're a pistoleer, don't sell yourself short. You are a vital part of your team! Here are a few roles you can play.

Meatsack - while this might sound humorous, you can actually draw fire away from the more effective parts of your combat team by putting your Master Pistoleer tag up. Greed can be a powerful ally in a fight. Kill-hungry opponents like to target easy prey. By tempting their greed you can draw fire away from your teamies whoare actuallysapping damage on your enemy - riflemen, combat medics, fencers, and TKM. For best effect, equip noob clothes and a 2% Action BleedDoT CDEF.

Breathtaker - everyone knows how hard it can be to do anything when you are laughing. I have known pistoleers who havedeveloped their "breathtaking" skills that just by merelyequiping their pistolcauses their enemies to be stunnedfrom laughterfor 15 seconds. Never underestimate your ability to wreak havok on the psyche. (Use in conjunction with a DL-44 metal, FWG5, or scout blaster for best results) My 98 max damage CDEF spamming last ditch is feersum!

Pack Mule - modern forces can require large ordinances. You are essentially a combat wagon capable of carrying a total of 110 necesarry goods. Having multiple droids with storage compartments can add an extra 30 - making you the penultimate in team cargo personel. Why do you think I have (Beeper) and (Blue). (Cobalt) is my combat R2, with a rating in the mid 400's. He doesn't fight though, he just runs away and beeps. He does patrol my guild hall, though....

Locationand Requisitioning - large groups who travel long distances sometimes drop stuff. While your career is likely spent at the back of a combat team, you can aid them by finding dropped objects. One time I found a dropped damage sliced Jawa Ion rifle for a companion. Finding dropped gear is an important part of maintaining a functional force. The Bazaar is your friend! Don't forget those Jawas at the Jawa Fortress!!!!

The Continuity-inizer Role - part of the appeal of grouping with a pistoleer is making your battles feel like they are actually occuring in the Star Wars universe. Groups often feel sad that amidst fencers, swordsman, TKA, and combat medics that they aren't really in a galaxy far far away. When you join a group you add those few bits of laser bolts that make it feel like home! Very effective with your fastest special. Spamming Han Solo quotes works, too. DL-44, Striped pants, a noob scout vest, and a white longsleeve shirt work wonders. Players will stop in the middle of a fight and yell "Is that Han Solo!?1!11!!?1//!!3/"

Pistol Specials:

Useful pistol specials in PvP are Healthshot2, Fanshot, Pistolmeleedefense1, and Lastditch/Stoppingshot.

Healthshot2 - a pistoleers most reliable healthpool attack, forget that this is even a shot designed to cause bleeds. If you use this shot correctly you will see a "-2" above your enemies head every so often - just so you know you are using it right. Avoid this shot on anyone with medical skills. Still our best pool-specific shot. Use on medics, sometimes they will stop spamming HeadHit3 to apply first aid.

Fanshot - a very excelent random pool pistol shot. You can easily shoot a whole crowd of people at the same time. See the above tactics for "Breathtaking"above. Couple this with the fact that you can temporarily "distract"with the thought of bleeds on an entire group with the Mod. Rep. blaster. This can be devastating to an enemy combat team.If you time this special during lunch or dinner times, you can cause beverages to project out of the enemiesnoses, causing keyboards to become slippery and unreadable. Works great with my "Hans Olo" alt with a 17% mind poison 2 str DL-44.

Pistolmeleedefense1 - well Pistolmeleedefense2 is borked like most pistol specials. The effectiveness of this move in an age of KD foods and templateers is the shock caused by seeing a new pistoleer animation. They might confuse you with a TKM, causing panic and fear. Very useful in melee range. May cause TKA-phobia. Lowblow just doesn't inspire fear in the hearts of Fencers as PMD1 does......

Lastditch/Stoppingshot - Lastditch is appropriately named because it lives up to it's name. Not only is it the last thing that you will be spamming as you hit the turf, but you might end up in a ditch after combat with all the other corpses thinking, "This looks like the last ditch I was in!" As for Stoppingshot, I think you can pretty much guess. I do remeber the last ditch I was in. Some Sith attacked GrooveFest 6 on Intrepid. After getting two last ditches off, I feigned death. The sith were repelled, due to me dying, cloning, getting buffs, and coming back as an 0/3/4/4 TKA, as well as the five Jedi, and countless melee profs, as well as Anchorman Dan in his clashing compo. Stopping shot? What's that? Oh, it's supposed to stop something? I had no idea!

Panic Shot- A 10 second delay shot. Instills fear into noob players who just bought the game 10 minutes ago. Used to be useful, until firing another shot broke the delay. Now any half-baked pistoleer with a CDEF will hit the delayed target again before they can peace.

Feign Death- Gold mine! Used to be the greatess. Now mobs will reagro you from ~213 meters away. Pretty nice to use in PvP, it's amazing what profanity you can learn from that l337-Sw0rd5m4n that you feigned on, just because you decided to go easy on him! Also useful when you kite in agro mobs on annoying AFK spammers in Coronet. Great for leveling. Run into Fort Tusken, shoot at Tuskens, and feign death when your HAM gets low. Wait for a TKM to come along and whoop said Tusken. Get XP, rise, repeat.

Spices: Give em to your ememies, wait for them to hit the downer!

Slicing: Slice your own weapons! Duh..... Shoot faster! Slice armor for encumbrance: you regen faster while feigning!

Underworld: Understand that Zabrack Rifleman cursing at your feigned body in his native language.

LOL, cool. It is no damn wonder why Feign Death is useful to a pistol-based profession. We have the talents to fake a deathblow becausewe have the experience of dying so often!

Well, if you have time, and a lot of patience(aren't those pre-requisits for Smuggler?), you can kite Nyax's followers to Coronet.
