Thread: A slicing revamp idea
-
Quasi-legal. A player caught with quasi-legal goods will be attacked -
Banned. A player caught with banned goods will be attacked. The player’s visibility will increase slightly for each violation -
Highly Illegal. A player caught with highly illegal goods will be attacked, the goods confiscated (if the attacked player is defeated), and the player’s visibility will increase. Highly illegal objects cannot be transported via the standard travel system by anyone other than a smuggler. The player must use the new smuggler travel system in order to move highly illegal goods. (This new system will be discussed later.)

That's a pretty good idea IMO, but i fail to see the interest of a quasi-legal slice, since nobody would want it.
Another issue to bring into attention is that you don't only slice weapons, but armors and terms too.
How will this system apply to armors?
And what is the benefit in terms slicing?
Armour: Pretty easy, like on weapons apply the points to a stat.
Terminals would be more interesting to figure out. Lets say you increase the missionpayout by 10% with each point. The more you apply the more likely the missiongiver will notice that he got ripped off. Leading to an eventual bounty.

Sure you could apply the points to a stat, but how can an armor become illegal? How can you declare something protects too much in regards of the law? If armors are supposed to have ranges (apart from the game's caps) why don't you forbid houses too? I mean how could a law enforment troop say that you can't be protected?

Well, look at it like this.
Just a crappy idea here, but what about speed slices be quasi-legal to illegal and damage slices being illegal to Highly Illegal
The idea here is that speed, being more of a non-elite necessity, isn't as severe. Like, I want to hit more, but not as hard, it's defensive, well, kinda
While a damage slice is totally the realm of the elite classes. It's there for damage and damage only. This would be classified as kill and confiscate on sight.
I get the distinct feeling that this might change come CURB time, with certain armours effecting your speed and the damage you deal being more dependant on what your weapon is set to.
