Okay here is just the thought seen from a worst case scenario. Alot of people are getting their hopes up about being faction master salesman. To the masses when the CU comes up.
Okay lets say that the faction armor doesnt role out costing 5000 faction points a set. Lets assume that it will cost around a 1000 for each set. Thats a nice round number.
What follows is some thoughts each from a different perspecitve.
Julio the wookie has been in the game for a year and a half. Its been awhile since he actually used his faction points for anything. He still hunts faction missions, because they are worth good creds. Julio now has accrued 50000 faction points. That he has nothing to spend them on. Suddenly the CURB arrives and julio now has 50000 faction points that are now worth something what does julio do.
A. Starts selling faction points to other players.
B. Buys armor off the recruiter then sells them in the street.
C. Offers to buy 30 sets for a armorsmith at a decent profit.
D. Decides to get some gifts for his guildies.
Ernest the mon cal is a killing machine. He knows how to kill everything at the drop of a hat. He has just found out that in a week the CURB with faction armor will arrive, and he knows players will need faction points. So ernest decides to start grinding faction missions out. In a week ernest has made 60,000 faction xp. What will ernest do with his faction points.
A He stands in the street selling the armors to other players.
B. Cuts a deal in advance with a armorsmith. Ten credits per faction point.
C. He puts it on the bizarre for six k a suit.
D. He decides to sell it to a guild.
Michelle was not paying attention to the news, and didnt prepare. She just found out she can buy new faction armor from the recruiter for 1000 skillpoints. What does michelle decide to do. She only has 800 spare faction points.
A. Michelle decides to run some faction missions to get the extra 200.
B. Try to buy an already fashioned armor from another player.
C. Try to find and buy it on the bizarre.
D. Use the smuggler to buy the extra points.
Tomrichard and larry three rough and tunble bothans. Each of them has 3000 faction points. They only bothered to play faction for a few months, and never bothered with it after that. What do they do.
A. Decide not to mess around with faction armor anyway.
B. Try to buy it from another player or prefab from an armorsmith.
C. Simply buy the schematic.
D. Decide to buy some armors and sell them to other players.
These are just examples of why the whole armor thing may not be what its cracked up to be. Early on players only used smugglers to buy super expensive items like bases. Which would take days otherwise to make.
Though we should assume that the majority of factioned players already have the points. To buy the armor with no smuggler needed. We should also assume that a number of players will be there three days in advance peddling faction armors. We should also expect that a number of players will opt to mission rather then pay for a smugglers service. Thats just on day 1. Its not like players have to go through smugglers. Like players had to go through chs for mounts. Hell I remember speeder day. You want to know something I never paid for my speeder. I got it for free from a friend.
Then after day 1 we have to ask exactly why would any player use and wear a armor thats more expensive to replace then another. The fashion statement will wear thin for many players a few weeks later. Then what we only have the hardcore faction players wearing the armor, and these are the guys who will go get their own points.
Not being a jerk at all, but alot of smugglers here are thinking that day 1 they will get mobbed, and make tens of millions of credits. When more then likely it will just be a few impatient players. Who just want to be one of the crowd and fork out to join the faction and then get the armor.
Even then do you think you will be the only smuggler in bestine anchorhead theed moenia coronet imperial outpost rebel outpost. So its not even like you can make a huge profit since players will haggle with you.

Ah what lame duck 1 starred me. This wasnt evena statement of oppinion for pete sake. Its addressing factors that many players seem blissfully unaware of geesh.

I don't expect a rush eithier. I can make 1000fp on a quick stop (about 2 minutes) when I come across each ofthe 2 sets of rebel bases on my journy from one loot POI to another. So can any other player. 50 fp per overt kill in space. It's not hard to rack up faction, only bonus us smugglers will have over other faction grinders is we'll be able to get 25% off at master. But to do that we either have to grind fp ourselves or go into business with another 4xxx smuggler but that will cut into profits and probably not worth it. Haven't checked

Uh, we of course have to be Overt to wear those armors, right?
That would cut down on people using them as well- at least a few weeks after day one.

I think we will see a steady stream of Imps (they do so love their armor) but unless the reb's get get something cooler then the current set (lets face it their armor is a little swishie) I dont think Rebel's will be getting a great deal of faction armor sliced.

I find since JTL came out people seem to have enough faction to do whatever they want. I haven't sold faction since last year.

I've never sold faction! To me, it's not something that needs another smuggler doing. It shouldn't be a primary source of income for smugglers, just a "Guys we need a few turrets and we need them now. Go find a smuggler." kind of thing.
And if the guild that all of a sudden has the need for a pricey faction item happens to have a smug in their ranks, bonus, they probably won't even need to pay.
What I'm saying is, I've never really thought of selling faction as a big thing, even though I guess a bunch of people do. What I am counting on for the first day of CURB is that people are gonna need this new armor sliced. And I am more than willing to stand around for hours at a time, slicing. As long as I get me some cred.
