Thread: Combat Armor Upgrade

So I was reading the Friday feature about the new armor and armor system and this caught my eye.
"Armor in SWG is also subject to a unique problem that is due to movie canon limitations. According to movie canon, certain player races cannot wear certain pieces of armor. For example, Trandoshans cannot wear gloves or boots, and Wookiees cannot wear boots."
It just struck me as funny, as movie canon and the rest of the Stars Wars universe outside the game didn't seem to be all that big of a concern with them before. I know, I know, necro thread. Just thought it was funny.
Its not like Trandos and Wooks could come up with something to protect those parts of their body. How hard can it be to design boots and gloves for them?.
Oh, and something that just jumped my mind. If you cant hit the hands anymore, what will happen to disarmingshot?

Personally - I'm hoping that they screw up the code for protecting the body and allow our hands and feet to act like a lightsaber - that deflect shots back at the shooter.
The rest of the armors can still be piece by piece for those who want to mix 'n match. If the gloveless or bootless races put on arm armor, the hands are protected, leg armor protects the feet.
Easy 'nuff.

ROFL! Developers...caring about how the game matches the star wars universe? Is this some kind of sick joke?

Actually, if they cared about sticking to movie canon, very few would wear armor. The only folks in the movies (the True Trilogyor the suck-quels) who wear armor are the StormTroopers/Clone Troopers.
I personally would like to seea lot less armor wearing. I make it a point to wear armor only when I have to. Basically this includes the DWB, Geo Cave, and the Force Crystal Hunters Cave. I don't really have problems most other times
Same here, my Smuggler wears regular clothes most of the time and when I do wear armor it is only chest and legs. The rest of my wear is BE clothes with CA's.

when in urban area's i take off my armour(except when those CorSec's start shooting at me. they seem to dislike me hehe). when going rural, i usually put on some armour... but when meeting someone in the middle of no-where, i ALWAYS take off my helmet... makes the conversation look alot more personal, than talking to a helmet(dark helmet anyone?)
then again: how often do u see characters in the movies getting poked with needles by a docter? i mean: if i went to confront Vader, i'd get poked with needles, eat alot, drink brandy, and use some spice(aka: drunk and high hehe) before the confrontation. then again: it's not like i'll survive the fight for long, and im no glow-stick wielder(don't wanna be one either, im fine with my smuggler/rifleman, using the force to increase my chances of survival)
anyway, im getting a bit off-topic
the post about making armour count for the full body sounds good... then again: only 1 slice needed instead of 7-9...
