Thread: So whats the drop rate on these Stupid Slicing tools anyway?
I am left wondering the same thing myself. I think that the looting tables that some have published are incomplete.
My guess is that these components have a chance to drop from any tier 4 or 5 ships or upper level ground NPCs/creatures like nightsisters, krayts, etc.
Hope they increase the Drops then. And by quite a bit too i might add.
Although i am not a Smuggler, I can see that this Prof will die. I mean what use is it to have a entire Skill Branch that you can only use every now & then, when the "Super Rare", tools come along. In other words, SOE is saying to smugglers that they can only use their Higher skills on rare occasions.
Thats like saying to Riflemen that they can now only use the Conceal Branch once a day, or a TKM he can Intimidate once a day...!!!
I would be Screaming about this if Iwere a Smuggler....This is just too much of a nerf, the Devs have gone waaay overboard on this one.
I completely disagree. In the real Star Wars canon, slices WERE rare. They were certainly a HELLUVA lot less "dime a dozen" as they were before the slicing changes.
I am VERY happy that upper slices are going to be a rarity. I suggest you buy some crated WUKs and AUKs so when these devs patch out a fix you will have plenty of simple and finely crafted toolkits as you need.
5 krayts today...
X1 Ancient dropped nada
X2 Giant Canyon dropped a trigger assembly
X1 Canyon Krayt dropped a mand. frame
X1 Juvenile Krayt dropped a stack of tissues
Space.... not a damn thing, but I am still hearing that they are dropping. A guildmate spent time on Lok killing mercs yesterday... (4 hours total I believe) and nothing to show for it. 40 mins on Krayts and we had 2 high end slice parts and some good tissues for a pistol.
In other words... can't tell a drop rate. It is all random. Welcome to loot-whoredom. We wanted smuggling content? We got it. We get to camp critters that the glowstick wielders camp for pearls forced to look at them in order to stay at the top of our trade... while smuggling a trigger from the ass of a krayt. In theory looting is a cool idea... but not when you have to remove yourself from the game and camp spawns to have good components. Loot already has too big of a role in this game and I had rather work with WS's to RE/Scavange parts or for goodness sake have the ability to skim it at a high risk (read: player bounty) from smuggling missions.
Supid slicing tools is right on. I now have rare components but can't loot the low level parts. Heh, fitting for SWG... grind FS, grind loot, grind your teeth and get out.... content is for the weak minded. Must robotically kill critters over and over to be able to modify a weapon. There is no skill or art to this. Just assinine lacking of creativity.

People are concerned about thedrop rateand your solution is use an unsustainable source of these things?? Sounds kinda strange to me.

If anything, I think the rate should be lowered just a hair to make sure the good slices are rare. The low-level components seem to be more rare than the high-level stuff. The drop rate for these needs to be increased quite a bit.

You misinterpret what I said. Look at the post just above mine where the guy says he wants to have components coming out his ears.
Jedi are concerned that they have crappy damage output, poor healing, too much hardship with bounty hunters, way to much force costs, and overall not enough power. I think you will agree with me that just because they are concerned with this doesn't mean that it is the game's best interest to grant them it.
The same goes with slicing components. These items need to remain relatively rare or the general value of a slice will go down. I want to make good money slicing. I don't want to go back to the dark ages when 10k was the maximum you could make slicing.
On the other hand, I think that the drop rate in space is toooo low. I wouldn't mind going up to space for an hour if I could loot three of these parts.

Exactly my sentiment. Perhaps I can stop being misinterpreted.
Yup its space alright, not getting a thing.
Exept for the Odd Ship part here & there. Most, err acctually all of those parts have been from Tier 4 Ships. Reb, Imp & Crims alike are still droping loot "though not in the Frequency they used to".
Level 5 Ships,Now thats a different story. Well not only am i not getting Slicing tools from them, I am also not getting any other loot from them. Two Hours in here thisafternoon, & i must have killed alteast 50 - 60 ships, mabe more. Not one Tier 5 ship has dropped anything at all in Kessel.
Same goes for the few Tier 5's Floating round the other systems.
So yes I'd say the Loot tables are stuft !!!
