I think a lot of us in general accept that the good slices shouldn't be a commonplace every day thing. Most people also agree that the way the loot system was implemented is really not ideal. As I said in another thread jokingly - a Nightsister and a Krayt dragon walk into a bar and beat up a smuggler to take his stuff?
Putting ina function similar to shipwrights REing where master smugglers can analyzeweapons andclothing that drop is a much better. There are still all these things in game that have so far been useless except for the beginning when sometimes you'd get a piece of clothing that no tailors were high enough level to make yet or a weapon that the smiths hadn't gotten to making.
Considerthat a master smuggler could look over the crappy CDEF, sonic blaster, whatever, and notice that it has a nice trigger assembly. In going through the clothing off of some NPC, you find that they had a little reinforcement sewn into the clothing. I think these are both more interesting ways of accomplishing the same thing, not making it common, and doing something useful with things that are already in the game. A master smuggler has the accomplished eye to notice these things, and it would be another thing to validate the pinnacle of this profession. It's accessible without being common because we don't have to find something on every single NPC.
Another possibility is to make these drop off of things likeswoopers orspice fiendsand other thug NPCsthat, while not difficult like Nightsisters and Krayt dragons, make a Lot more sense to possess smuggler supplies. They don't necessarily need to be a common drop, but someone that has Only Master Smuggler as a combat profession would be able to fight these. The rate can be rare just as the rug adhesives and other things have been, but possible to access for people who are not full-combat templates.
Just some thoughts several of us have been talking about on Scylla. Thank you for reading.
