Thread: Chest Piece slices

It feels like chest piece slices receive a lot less effectiveness slices than the other armor pieces.. and when they do, it is a low slice. I just went through about 15 70% base composite armor chest pieces and got 1 effectiveness slice. That slice was a 20%.

Now, I then moved on to Helmets and Pants. On those, I got 1 32% slice on two pieces of each type I went through.

Seems inbalanced to me... or I just got majorly shafted.

I'm not a smuggler so I wouldn't know a whole lot about it...but it's late and I'm bored =). I got a stun composite chest plate sliced and it was a 42% encumbrance slice. /shrug. Dunno if that helps/matters/has any significance at all hehe.

yeah the stats are random, but on armor, you almost always get encumbrance slices now because the resists are so high on armor now. the low effectiveness slices still push the % up a lot, just not over 90% like we could hope. thats also why the % on the slices are low. hope that helps.

This is NOT TRUE. I sliced 2 sets ofhigh stat Composite last night for one dude. On the first set got 5 encumb and 4 effectiveness slices. On the second set, I got 8 out of 9 Effectiveness slices. It is ALL RANDOM, guys... get used to it. I have recorded 98% of my slices for the 5+months I have been smuggler andhave postedthe numbers before that show it is random.

Edited to add the following comment:

My recorded numbers show that the AVERAGE EFFECTIVE armor slice is approx. 22%.
The AVERAGE ENCUMBERANCE armor slice is approx. 35%.

The split between Encumb and Effectiveness was 50%.

It is possible to gethigh (30%-35%) effectiveness slice on high stat armor that would bring the effectiveness up close to 100,but the game code will just chop THROW IT AWAY andcap the effectiveness at 90%.

Wrong... Others have pointed out just how random it is.

I sliced a suit of very good high end advanced comp. On the chest plate i got like a 33% effectiveness slice which brought the CP to around 89% base, and on the pants I got a 35% which brought it to 90% base. The rest of the suit minus a bracer and gloves I believe were encumberance. I got an extremely high tip for that slice But yes... ALL random.

One word -- Random.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

I've never seen a base effective past 35%, so I'm guess that the Base slices are guaged similar to a Damage Range or Attack Speed slice.

Besides, thinking about it, a 45% percent Base Effectiveness slice would raise a 68% Base compositechest plate to 98.6% Base Effectiveness. Do we really need players in Stun Armour that strong. The silliness with unbalanced would be even worse.

Mind you, there would be short term benefits, our services would be demanded more than ever and we could shoot the prices through the roof, but it would only add to a problem that's like an infected wound.

So smugglers, consider a 35% Base slice like a 45% Encumberance slice when pricing your slices.

Ranges for Effectiveness go up only to 35%.
Ranges for Encumberance slices go up to 45%.
Actually, with close to 2000 armor slices to my name, I have never had a 35% effective slice, but have had several 34% slices (I record all slices).
