Hey there folks,
I just finished master smuggler on one of my characters. I'm currently an Imperial Sergeant. I tried purchasing faction from Imperial recruiters on Tatooine, Rori, Naboo, Dantooine and Corellia, none will give me the option. I tried NPC cities, bases, random spawns (conversable officers), etc. My master smuggler guildmate has no such problem, all the recruiters give him the option.
I CSR ticketed it, twice. Both said it was a "known issue" and to look on the forums for a workaround. I can find no such workaround. The first CSR told me to try different recruiters, which I did. The second gave me no option other than to ask other players.
I've tried restarting my client, rebooting my machine, full scan, logging out for hours and coming back, etc. The only thing I haven't done is rebooted the server, since I have to wait until Tuesday for that to happen.
Any suggestions?

After converse....you should see (at the bottom of the option list) "I'd like to discuss an equitable trade" just above "stop conversing"
Maybe that helps maybe not but when they made the GCW changes they changed how you initiate the FP buy, that confused me at first.
Other than that I dont know a workaround either.

Unfortunately, that option isn't given. That's the whole problem.
The recruiter is treating my character as a non-smuggler. I've tried 2 dozen recruiters, and none give me the option.
I've tried as on leave, combatant, and special forces. It makes no difference.
I've tried NPC bases, NPC cities, player-placed bases, random spawns. Nobody will sell me faction.
The server just got rebooted and I tried again. Same thing, I don't get the option.
I quadruple checked to ensure that I was, indeed, still a master smuggler. And I am.
My guildmate has no problems purchasing from the same recruiters that won't give me the option. He gets the option just fine.
I have 270 Imperial faction, and am a Sergeant in the Empire with this character.
CSRs claim there is a workaround but they don't offer it to me. They say it's a "known issue." ANYONE have a clue? This is frustrating as hell, 90% of the reason I went master smuggler right now was to purchase faction. The other 10% is the hope that that awesome smuggler revamp will go live sometime in the next 6 months... but that's another topic.

Did you go to the option where you make a cash donation to the recruiter, either 20k or 100k credits.

Your Rebel faction points are below 1000, yes? At least, I think it is something like that. I've never had a positive standing with the rebels, so I don't know. I have heard people point out that you can't buy FPs if you have too high a standing with the opposing faction.

How do you sell faction points to other players? I have never tried to do this or have been asked to do so.

Thanks for the responses, I finally found the problem.
You can't have a single point of positive faction in the opposing faction. I had positive rebel faction because I had done some quests with this character that gave me faction, and had never killed a rebel NPC. As soon as I went to 0 rebel faction, I could purchase Imperial faction.
Too bad the CSRs don't seem to know this, and it's really not common knowledge. Might want to add this to the FAQ.
