You are going to see a lot of Bounty Hunter / Smugglers running around. Why because the combined template will give you a defence = 4 offence = 4 and crowd control = 5 by my math you may even have enough skill points left over to get 2 lines in comando or rifleman potentialy bumping the offence to a 5 on the combined template, and you thought god templates were a thing of the past..... i think not....lol. The BH/Smuggler template will give access to the most interesting and unique content in the game, hunting jedi, doing the new smuggler missions, and of course the ability to slice weapons/armor and sell faction. The current info provided to us i think this is the way i'm going to go withmy template and i think a lot of others will too.
I'm thinking about doing "The Beast"
Master Smuggler/TKM
which gives you Offense = 6 Defense = 6 Crowd Control = 6 or 666, hence the name.
This way you can convert to melee if things get too close AND be hard to hit while you are at it.
My idea is to cap it with two lines of Commando so's I can drop some heavy damage while I mezz and tank you.
Looks like that should be able to handle any Smuggler/BH
I must admit though, MS/MBH is my backup temp at the moment for the content alone.

If they really plan on balancing things I somehow hope they will recognize the Smuggler/BH combo and do something about it.
I was planning on sticking with Smuggler/Pistoleer in the hopes I'd be a master at getting away from BHs but I have no clue if they'll impliment any method of avoiding a bounty to the point the bounty is dropped.
The idea of a Smuggler/BH just seems....wrong. But if that's the only way to survive solo then I'll respec Pistoleer into BH.

If I go MS/MBH, I won't be playing the BH role. I'm a Smuggler, not a BH. I just like the weapons and balance that being a MBH will bring to being a MS.

I'd actually be disappointed if, in order to be competative, I had to do that. The whole idea of taking a profession just for a portion of it's benefits is distasteful to me. Pistoleer I can see going well with Smuggler. But BH? Bleh...it would only be for the combat advantages if I did.

They are going to change one of the melee profs skill points I am guessing. Currently with the proposed changes you could go TKM/M. Fencer/and M. Swords...which isn't intended. One of these (or all of these) will have changes in SP to prevent that. So plan accordingly by getting on TC when the CU drops and toy around with it. Should Unarmed get a increase in SP then Smugglers will have to compensate when planing a template. FYI.
The above is a observation of current information and may/will change when more info is provided.

Seriously, if we end up with one automatically uber template, what is the point of all this? We and SOE could save a lot of time and effort and just declare stackers for hte win and get on with our virtual lives.

as long as any single-combat-profession build is roughly balanced with any other single-combat profession build I'll be happy.
I havent decided yet if I'll give up musician ... but if I dont, I want my smuggler combat ability to be roughly equal to any other (single) combat profession build.
My prediction is that the CU will force the issue of the smuggler revamp. With armor and weapons changes - slicing will become a big deal issue (knowing it's going to change and all). With consumable buffs changed and balanced (and lets hope they didnt forget about spices in the CU) they will have to revamp smuggler soon so as to ensure now-balanced spice isn't horded while it's still craftable in prep for non-craftable days ahead.

Actually, I like everything about BH, but the BH part. So I won't really be taking it just for the benefits, but because I enjoy the other aspects of it.

It's just all so confusing...at least without all the infromation at present. Personally I'll be angry if there are uber or FOTM templates. It will nullify this entire CURB process for me. The whole point was that you could be the profession you wanted and still be realtively equal and viable to groups and solo. Right? I'll withhold judgment until more information is released or until testing confirms my fears.
I just realized...I don't even want to be a MBH! Hell I'd rather go MCH!!! But I don't want to have a gimped character that has no real value to my guild or in game. Bumzors!
