We could make the whole slicing loot thing a lot more interesting if it became a special 'contraband'.

Using the same scan code but if slicingcomponents arefound there is a chance it is confiscated. Presense of these components should increase the chance of discovery for all but Master Smugglers.

This lets ALL players loot the new components but gives a HUGE advantage to Smugglers, and especially Master Smugglers,in actually being able to transport it. Confiscation of a component is not overly burdensome on players since it is not a finished product.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

*edit* Whoa, I need my coffee.. apparently what I read isn't quite what you posted...

Yeah, this idea sounds good to me. But I think they'd need to beef up the contraband scans considerably. Right now they're a joke.

I'm pretty sure during the first pass of contraban scans way back in the day, the Devs said they would never confiscate items from players because it's just not fun.

I mostly agree with this... it could be incredibly frustrating to have items taken from you by an NPC you happen to stumble across... but I don't see your point that there should be more risk with the whole slicing thing for the customer.

pretty good idea.

i'm furious about the risk/reward issue being completely neglected by GM and whoever else is calling the shots down there.

Yep, the devs said exactly that. Item confiscation will never happen. If the search was working for me, I'd find that...

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

100% agreed If we HAVE to have our items loot driven then make sure we are needed to get our own items. Transporting an item with a master Smuggler grouped with you helps you aviod the scans. (Assuming the actually add real scans) having the Smuggler the one to carry the items helps even more. And get rid of the hide it in a driod stuff Right Now Driods are the best smugglers in game.
