I was heading back to town after hunting on Dant with a few friends and guildies. I'm a Reb Combatant, mostly just because I love the look of Reb Assault armor. The town I was heading into is named Katana, an Imp town on Chilastra.

So I buzz into town in my little AB-1 (love those compact speeders) and I see something in the middle of the street. I decide to go see what it is. As I get closer, I notice that it looks like a flourescent lamp of some kind. One part of my brain is thinking "Why the heck would someone put a lamp in the middle of the street?" while the more sensible side of my brain thinks "It's not a lamp, it's a minefield."

I didn't think anything about it for a second because I've run across many of these things before and nothing ever happened... until a message pops up on my screen. Something to the effect of "You have entered an enemy minefield!" Not sure of the exact words.

I blink and think "Rut Roh" and my Smuggler Sense starts tingling... a little late.

I turn around and start getting the heck out of there when it happens.

Boom.... Booom.... BOOOM!!!! And down I go for the incap. Now, at this point I'm kinda shaking my head and chuckling a bit. I've never been the victim of a minefield before, so it's kinda cool. I don't remember these things ever actually working.

The incap wears off and I stand up, dust myself off, and turn to get back in my speeder.

BOOOOOM!!!! And I am down again. This time I get a cloning message. (I had been incapped once before recently while hunting... I keep forgetting about Feign Death with mobs because I rarely need it.)

An Imp Jedi I know runs over and stands over my corpse and says "What happened to you?" I kinda chuckle and say "Minefields are working again, eh?" He laughs at me and says Yes. We chat for a bit and then I decide to go ahead and clone.

I come back to life in a medical center. Obviously a player one, judging by the extra stuff inside. I save my clone data (I hadn't done it on Dant, so I got decay), insure my stuff, then walk to the door. I look outside and a heavy sigh escapes my lips. I cloned in their Cloning Center. There are minefields and AT-ST's out walking, stormies hanging around, etc... I just logged out. I figured it was late and I'll deal with it tomorrow.

So when I get back in the game tonight, looks like I have some fun ahead of me.

I've done that back in the day - the thought "Well I'm in a minefield - I wonder if it's stocked"

never been a ictim of a miefield but i once forgot to change back to rebel on leave. The effect was me landing in the middle of an imperial outpost with dozens of stormtroopers walking about and an at-st or 2. I wasnt buffed (pre cu) and i dont believe in wearing armour (another story lol). So i burst run to the nearest exit with the troopers hot on my tail. I dont last long and use fiegn death. down i go and wait for the patrol to pass by, i pop back up and make a dash to my friends house where i was going to pick u some ship parts. One problem left, theres now an entire base between me and my ship lol. i had a friend come and buff me so i could escape off planet i ran in de-10 blazing, dropping troopers left and right while trying to avoid the at-st. After the bodys piled up and the dust had settled i made my way to the term and took off. It was without a doubt the best smuggler expireince i have ever had. A real "me and cheewie have gotten into alot of places more heavly armed than this" type moment.

Quality. I believe, however, that you automatically shifted to "on-leave" when you cloned, so your next escape may not be as breathtaking as you expect.

Aww, crap. I was kinda looking forward to it, too.

Maybe I'll go combatant again and head back there.

Heh, that's one way to find they're all working.

There was a nice Rebel town on Rori I was using to shuttle from while doing a BH mission. When I was done with the mission and returning, I noticed this town had a very extensive base layout. I was covert, so I thought I would check it out and maybe take some screenies of this impressive setup.

I was in the middle of 4 bases when I noticed they had also included covert faction scanners in their design. Oops.

I did manage to /burstrun and get out of dodge with a leigon of Rebels on my tail... Another "Smuggler" moment.
