Ok, many people are getting extremely riled up about the slicing changes. One of the biggest issues with "Plan B" is that it is very hard for a smuggler without the help of a jedi conclave to obtain the neccessary parts. One of the suggestions was to have smuggler missions offer slicing components as rewards, but smuggling is a ways off, and won't be included with slicing. Those of us who are against Plan B hope that something like this will be implemented, but hold off support of it just in case it doesn't work out. It seems that, naturally, these two systems could go hand in hand with each other. In order to place our judgements on this, we need to see the bigger picture, and how it will all play in with each other. It did seem suspiciously quick for Plan A to be ditched for something that included loot, and it had been mentioned before that smuggling may include "weapon components". So please, I'm not asking for a date, but if you can say whether or not it was intended for smugglers to be able to obtain slicing components through smuggling, please tell us. I guarantee that a very large portion of the people against the slicing changes will be behind the dev's in this. We really need to see the larger picture here, if there is one.
P.S. I really doubt anyone will post here, like all my posts. Maybe 5 posts or so, but that's it...I also doubt a devor correspondant will even read this, let alone post in it. /sigh Well, it can't hurt to try though, now can it?

I agree with ya mate , plan a would have worked with some patient tweaks , plan b could work if smuggla missions were needed to get the parts , as it stands , its a crock.

Actually, I'd just like to see some documentation that lays out how the new system is supposed to work.
Kinda hard to really have an opinion of something you don't have all the facts on.

Repeating this doesn't make it true. The avatar platform does NOT need any jedi help, not even a full non-jedi group. And with the fixed concussion shot a smuggler will be of quite some use there and a wanted member of an avatar platform group

Maybe I was imagining this... I could have sworn that we were told that new slicing was going into the game before smuggler missions. It was someone with a red name, and I'm pretty sure it was Tiggs or JFreeman or both.
Yes, we all want smuggler missions. I have yet to hear anyone in this forum stand up and state that they are against smuggling. If we've been told (repeatedly) that missions come after slicing, why is there a non-stop barrage of posts demanding smuggler missions.
Did I just make up those posts giving the order of smuggler features going into the system? maybe it was too much spice.... does anyone else remember being told this?

It's not a matter of knowing the order, any half attentive smuggler has read the posts and the order and all of that. However, we're trying to come up with some better ways of making the slicing(part 1 of said revamp) work better, since a bulk of the community tends to lean towards the "This is cr&p" side of the board when it comes to opinions on it.

Right... I just think that pushing for missions as an improvement for slicing is a lost cause since we know that missions aren't supposed to be ready yet. We kinda have to make do with what we've got to work with. I guess I don't see the point of asking for something that we know isn't ready for TC, no less live.

But it fits perfectly with the whole smuggling system (at least as described in the In Concept thread...). It's very silly to implement this first with absolutely no connections to the smuggling missions since they could work so well together. If something like "Ok, we'll make this stuff a part of the smuggling missions later, along with spices, but we'll just stick it in the loot tables for now to get it in the game." was said, it would be a great thing.

Contrary to popular opinion, I do think that the recent appearance of red names in our forum shows that they are paying attention to us. Need proof? Ok.
GM obviously became aware of the numerical slice analysis that a number of smugglers did and posted showing that there was one obvious slice-combinations that wad clearly superior. The result was a modification to the critical shot percentages (somewhere in the 16 page thread).
Since this is an issue that was raised repeatedly in that thread, by Wes in his thread, and countless others, I have trouble believing that the idea has slipped past them.
Let's see what happens when the missions appear.

I just hope they figure out they can leave out the high-end slices until the msuggling missions hit us.

I would love to see a statement on where Smuggling Missions stand as of this moment, because from where we went from "Slicing In Concept" to "Plan B" is damn near unrecognisable. If this turns out to be the case with Missions, there's going to be more gripes on this forum than one can imagine.
Please stop with the bombshells and pepper us with some info before we get suckerpunched again. As it stands, I'm not to hopeful that "deadbeat points" are ever going to be a worry for us, let along getting the chance to match wits with a player BH.
Just my thoughts but I haven't had lunch yet so...
