When did they tell us that crated WUK/AUK's would not be able to be salvaged?? I am not a "work/game/work/game/sleep/game/work/game/game" type of player. I do have a real life. This mean I do not spend 100% of my freetime playing the game or scanning the forumsfor info on how to play this game. I expect to be able to log on, play for a lil while, and log off. Any changes SHOULD be communicated with the gaming population, so we can prepare.

They didn't.

However some Smugglers were smart enough to go by SOE's track record with these conversions and uncrate their stuff before the publish.

I wasn't one of those brainiacs, apparently.

It was posted on this board some time ago that AUKs and WUKs would be able to be converted to new slicing tools if they were unpacked from crates. There must have been 5-6 different threads about it. Others had jokes about where and how many uncrated kits smugglers were stashing.

Theoretically, kits from crates should be able to be converted, but that doesn't work. Personally, I'm not throwing any crates away for a while in case it gets fixed.

Just another example of how SoE favors the power gamer.... I'm in the same boat. I'm not like that fool Keck who has no life, and spends more time here than actually playing the game.

AUKS and WUKS do convert out of the crate... at a rate of ONE PER CRATE. The last one pulled will be salvageable, and no, before you ask, splitting the crate into smaller crates does not improve the situation.

Just wait until you try to get some of the items to drop as loot. I'm guessing, from what i saw trying last night, that only high ends mercs and such drop even "simple toolkits". I killed about 200 of the things between 56 and 68 or so, and NOT ONE DROPPPED... Can't wait to try and camp DWB or AP. Once again, power gamers win.

Oh, and dont bother trying to buy them either... if your not a power gamer, its pretty likely that you cant afford them.

umm... for those who missed it (many, apparently), the frequency of drops was brought up over a week ago. GM responded and said they'd be keeping an eye on it. They wanted to start with fewer drops and increase the chance rather than the other way around. Not surprising if you can imagine the amount of crying if they cut the drops back.
