I do not feel its fair that Smugglers which have no unarmed special fighting attributes, should be forced to pick up brawler unarmed. but rather we should be able to pick up any brawler line or any aritsan line, the same goes for commando they should be able to pick up any brawler line,or any medic line were hybredes not cookie cutter professions... let us branch out a little

This was brought up in feedback of the CU documents before testing started; the Unarmed pre-requisites are supposedly I think justified by the unarmed accuracey, unarmed speed and melee defence that Smuggler receives. I also think that once we actually have Smuggling missions, the skill point cost will be more than justified... however if everyone else thinks differently, that'll be the view I'll be putting across .

Why do you need ranged accuracy? It's entirely relative to what your template is; Smuggler/TKAs, while perhaps not the most common choice is made slightly more viable by the unarmed mods in Smuggler.

You'd think that going down that line we'd have perhaps some Melee abilities, or indeed that our specials could be used as unarmed specials as well... anyway, I wasn't saying you need them, I'm just saying that they're likely the justification for them, right or wrong.

Well if anything defines a smuggler in combat it's pistols. Smugglers tend to travel light and fast, they aren't going to lug around some massive rifle or rocket launcher. They keep their trusty blaster pistol strapped to one hip and let it do the talking for them. So any sort of ranged mods is of use to them, but the unarmed requirement is pointless and a waste of skill points. We already have to take the pistol branch in marksman, why not require the ranged support branch as well instead of unarmed? It would make more sense and fit the prof a lot better.

And I'm sure some great wit at SOE is going to say, "Well smugglers don't wear armor either, so the unarmed branch gives them innate armor". BS. Innate armor is useless unless you master TK completely, and they can't very well require us to master TK in order to master smuggler. If someone wants to go the MTK/MS route that's fine, but the devs shouldn't make it a half-assed attempt and waste our precious skill points on a requirement most of us will never get any real use out of.
