Yes, sutpid question, and I know it says its NOT possible.

HOWEVER, I have a weaponsmith here whos telling me she was able to make a 1399 max T21 by slicing past the damage cap. Bug, Intended, Lie?

nothing I've seen or heard indicates that slicing past a weapon's damage cap is possible. My guy reaction is to say that she is lying and that if she's telling the truth it's an exploit somehow.

Just so I understand this perfectly.

If someone brings me an advanced laser rifle that is already at max dmg of 1184, and I try to slice it.

Do I expect :

a- Sorry cannot be sliced , its at max dmg already ?
b- it uses the component, shows it's been sliced but does nothing
c - it uses the component , shows it's been sliced and lists the max dmg 'slice' of 8%, but does not increase beyond the 1184 cap ?

I had a and c happen to me.

Slice a weapon that is over the damage slicing cap should give an "a" response

Slice a weapon that is under the damge cap (but close too) lets you slice up to the slice cap that results in a "c" and if you still slice even a "b"

That is a slicing exploit that has to do something with the removal of a powerup, I think. There was a post about someone doing this kind of thing in the WS forums.

The slicing option doesnt show up until you remove the powerup.

That is a fairly recent change though. Not so long ago you could slice with a PUP attached. Apparantly that was exploitable so now you see the current behavior.

Sounds to me they slapped a powerup on it and are boasting about that dmg output.

I don't want to speculate too much. But, I think if you removed the power up and immediately sliced a damage capped weapon it might let you? Or, Slice it and immediately add a powerup and remove it later. All I know, is it was sliced and powered up and when he removed the power up to return it to a vendor, an absurdly high max damage remained on the weapon. Also, I have never seen a speed slice be denied because of a speed cap.

any way you do it it will still be an exploit

I get a message saying this weapon cannot be sliced as it has reached it's maximum damage. So I don't think that is possible.
