Is it ok for a smuggler to stand at an OP like Dant for example, sending a tell to let everyone know you are there and open for business,i.e slicing?
Thought i'd check it out from the pro's.

If you're expecting "the man" to walk over and shut you down. That would be content, and we don't get content.
Slice away, infact, put up big flashing neon signs about slicing.

Yeah. Just watch out for noobers and a-holes in the MO.

If there's one nearby, stand next to a Stormtrooper while you're slicing. I was slicing some armor one day and I realized that there was a Stormtrooper guard standing not 5m from us. I said, "Hey, TK-421, can you hold this clamp for a sec? *fiddle fiddle fiddle* Thanks."

Consider the tear as it slides down a face bereft of all hope and understanding; a near perfect reflection and refraction of light, its droplet form somehow capturing the beauty and harshness of the surrounding environment. It slides slowly down the cheek, causing a strange wet, yet tickling sensation, until reaching a point where it loses contact with the skin and drops, plummeting to the ground, destroyed, lost and soon forgotten.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.
I asked because i was at the MO sending a tell( in the heavy spam traffic )stating that i was slicing.
Next minute there was a guy called 'Kojak' standing next to me saying 'he was slicing and he was vheaper than me'.
I said to him that 'he wasn't very sporting' and he said 'then i shouldn't stand at SP's spamming'.
I never argued with him incase he had a point, hence this post.
If this an OK way to get custom as a new smuggler i shall continue (not that much tbh).
When i see another smuggler there i normally go elsewhere to,as i wouldn't like to poach anyone else's custom.

I think his beef was with you spamming full stop. It can have an adverse affect on some people's immersion/gameplay/fun factor. Everyone here is correct however, there is no in game system that will penalise you for doing it.

He probably just meant that by advertising your prices you are open to be easily undercut by less scrupulous people like himself
