Smuggler Archive

Well, that's it. Time to hang up the blaster, VK & clamps for awhile. My fighters are mothballed, my rent is paid up for 6 months, and I'm hopping into the Brazen to explore the Outer Rim. I hear that business is good in a system called "Azeroth," and I'm anxious to try my luck.

I can't say that it's all been fun, but it's been memorable, and my experiences with fellow Smugglers have all been proud ones. This community has a strength of character and conviction that most others can only dream about, and I'm confident that SOE-willing, it'll pay off in dividends. With the new devs and long-needed fixes to basic systems (CU, noncombat revamps, SITTING IN CHAIRS), the future looks brighter than ever.

Even so, I need a change. Although I've tried other things, nothing in SWG has drawn me like the hope of becoming a smuggling-Smuggler. All of my other enterprises have been to enhance this role: In the past year and change, I've become a gunslinger, a martial artist, a special-ops Colonel, a Rebel hero, an ace pilot, a space-pirate.. all to someday put the pieces together and become the best damned Smuggler that ever connived the galaxy. I've prepared the finest galactic steeds, and Christened each ofthem with the blood of my enemies. And so far, for naught. I've done what I can to prepare, but there comes a time when you can't wait anymore. I want to PLAY, not endlessly wait for tidbits in the next patch.

I expect this to change. And when I first started preparing for my hiatus, I admit that I'd lost all hope. But the more I packed, and the more rent I paid up, the more signs I saw that times are changing. Perhaps I was wrong. Perhaps that by signing additional developers, Sony canprovettous that they do care about existing subscribers. Perhaps the competition has showed them that MMO products require quality to succeed. Perhaps they realized that they can't float on EQ anymore, and that SWG has to remain profitable as well. In any case, I'm hopeful. I expect that eventually we'll see the benefits of whatever changed their thinking. And when we do, I'll be back.

Awww, Bzzzz - man, sorry to see you go. But trust me when I say, I understand why. If the future does improve, I hope to see you back among us.
