This has probably all been said, but i'm somewhat new to this prof and tired beyond belief.
Being thatFANs are pretty much useless, can we maybe get them to allow us to use these to determine the nature of our slices so that all the tools we craft are actually widely used?
The change:
Flow Analyzer Nodes allowthe smugglerto determine the nature of the slice (effectiveness or encumbrance for armor, speed or damage for weapons). However theygive no indication as towhich wires to cut in which sequence, effectively making it a 50/50 success rate on the slice, with the % ofthe slice still a random range.
The example:
Customer: "Can you slice my uber leet krayt geo?"
Smuggler: "Sure man, you want is faster or stronger? Or doesn't it matter to you?"
Customer: "You can make it how i want it?!!"
Smuggler: "Maybe. There's a gamble. That slick pistol might not change at all, depends on the wiring. But, if you're worried about that, I can slice it up, guaranteed, but can't control how it'll turn out."
If this were the case, I believe people would still use clamps to get the 100% success, and would also use FANs even though there's the risk involved.
Just my sleep-deprived thoughts. Feel free to flame.

Yeah, its been said, but its still a good idea. Five stars.

Right now you have (theoretically) a 50/50 chance between slicing the stat thats wanted or slicing the other stat. All this does is change the change to a 50/50 chance that you get the slice you want or no slice at all, how is that an improvement?

So we can try to damage slice a speed capped weapon, or speed slice an extremely high damaging pistol.

It would obviously have to be a higher percentage of success than 50% for this to be worth of using, since the current slicing system works exactly as described above, except you still get something even if you don't get the slice you hoped for.

Why not just keep the current system, but use your idea about the FAN also. you want to TRY to get a speed slice, the FAN tells you which wire to cut. THis is AFTER you attach a MC and successfully cut the red/blue wires. Make an extra step so that slicing is more involving. It'd be great to clamp, cut, attach the FAN, make a guess, ooo, I was right, damage slice, whoopee

Supposedly the CURB is supposed to address speed capping in the game. Makeing it near impossible for a player to cap no matter what. I suppose there would be exceptions if they do not alter the krayt formula as is. Still that should make either slice valuable again. As compared to now when a riflemen comes up to you and is capped on speed and must have a damage slice on his rifle.
Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Lets also hope that something is done about the spamability of specials. If that happens speed and damage will be more on par. So that damage multipliers will actually matter in combat especially if you only get so many shots.
