Thread: Slicing Changes, No More Crated Tools

Okay, now I find this a little confusing. So I read in the patch notes that smugglers will no longer be able to use slicing tools (e.g. wuk's, auk's, knives, clamps) directly from a factorty crate. This to me implies that before we slice we must FIRST pull out of a cratem every tool being used to slice the particular item.

First

I still CAN use items directly out of a factory crate, so maybe this is not yet implimented or buggy?

Second

I

s this perhaps am equiped backpack thing, or regualr inventory?

When I slice (usually for a WS buddy) I keep my equpied backpack empty to make room for the weps I slice. I have a seperate UN-equiped backpack that carries all of my "slicing supplies"

And as I said I can STILL pull items out of crates automaticly AS I slice.

Third

Can some one, A dev , TH, Caylin, Garvin, ANYONE without direct knowledge PLEASE explain to me and the community WHY it is that thi change has been made. Slicing already takes a long time, especcialy COMP armor. If you are going to make a change like this to one of our CORE abilities AND livelihoods and explanation is only fair.

Thank You

Thanks Max, but that stickied post does NOT answer my question. The stickied post refers to how this change is SUPPOSED to allow you to pull CHARGES off each individual charge on a PLK while it is still inside a crate; however, this in NO way is what the patch notes says is going on. The patch notes read:

Your Will no longer be able to slice an item by using a tool in a crate. You will have to remove it from the crate first.

I CANNOT see how people interpret this as meaning that hey have fixed or tried to fix the issue with usig PLK's from crates. This change change reads as it ACTUALLY reads, that in order to slice, for instance a weapon, you must FIRST pull out of a crate, one PLK, one WUK, and one Clamp before you can proceed. That if you DO NOT do this before hand then you will NOT be able to slice the weapon, (assume that if you kept things in crates you would most liekly get the "You must have a upgrade kit to slice this item" message). If this change was in regards to crates of PLK's only perhaps that should have been clarified in the patch notes, which it most certainly is NOT clear at the moment. If it was clarified by the devs, then perhaps I wouldn't be as confused as I am right now.

No where in the stickied thread did I read hardly a thing regarding this issue, much less anythin that could be an answer to my question. What I am seeking is an answer from someone with first hand knoweledge about this issue. The reason I want an answer is that I do not understand what would have motivated the devs to make such a drastic change to the way slicing works. All I seek is an explanation.

Nobody *interpreted* it that way. We got to that conclusion by actual field testing the supposed change.

Majority opinion now is that it's a FUBAR patch note. Not only does it not work as stated, the suspected "fix" of the PLKs doesn't really work either (read the linked and stickied thread for further details).

So, really, you can disregard that patch note, as nothing has changed.

Sure it did Viper... Right in the first post by Caylin it says:

However, it apparently means that the problems we had with laser knife charges has been fixed, according to testing done by Baehoo.

You can find his results here.

Meaning it didn't affect WUKs, AUKs, and clamps.

He then references another thread which states that testing has been done and shows that WUKs, AUKs, and clamps have not been affected.

Dreven and Max are correct. I'm supposed to be getting a direct answer after their next 'meeting' but until then, I will go off the field tested results, what was said in the past and the lack of any real change.
