Yeah yeah yeah.. I've been around these here forums long enough to know this whole debate has been thrown around more than Gary Coleman at a dwarf toss.
But over all my time of slicing, I have noticed an interesting trend.
It seems when I slice "inferior" weapons and armor, meaningitems that do not have the best stats on them unsliced, I tend to get lower slice percentages than when I slice higher-quality weapons and armor. What makes this occur? The quality of the resources used to make the item.
Now, don't get me wrong. I have received a 15% damage slice on a higher-quality weapon before. But for the most part, if someone brings me an unsliced weapon that already has really good damage or really good speed, I just kind of "know" that I'm going to give them a higher slice.
This is something that of course we would have no control over, since it is the customer bringing us the weapons and armor. But if it turned out to be the case, and a customer gets upset at us for a 'low' slice, we could always turn around and tell them "Hey, you're the one that bought an inferior product. Bring me some quality merchandise next time and you'll get a better result".
I do not recall seeing any discussion regarding the type and/or quality of resource used influencing the slice percentages received, so I thought I'd bring it up and see what people's thoughts were on the subject.

If anything, I've often seen the opposite. If I slice a well-crafted weapon, I see lower slice results, and higher slices on crap weapons. Than again, I've seen random percentages on all ranges of weapon quality, so I don't think this matters either.

even randomness can appear to have a trend til you actually sit down and document it.

This is a developer statement that tool quality
does not matter on slicing equipment at this time.

Oh yeah Caylin, I know about the tool quality. What I'm talking about is the resource quality used to make the weapon or armor.
For instance, using 600 quality copper to make a weapon vs. using 999 quality copper.
Using higher quality resources in the creation of the weapon or armor increasing the percentage of the slice.
But as posted previously, it's probably just my human brain perceiving patterns in a random state.

maybe I should emphasize the 'Other Things' segment?
It don't matter

Just to clarify... when GM says tools, is he including AUK and WUK? Or just tools that a smuggler crafts themselves?

Yeah Caylin...I think you need to add some kind of emphasis to the "OTHER THINGS" part of that post...

Quality, does not matter, in any aspect of slicing. Tools, items... anything. Those are the other things, and more.
