I tried one on a turret the other night. It didnt do any discernible damage.
Best boom bots I found so far were detonation power 58. They are the R2 style chassis and cost 25K. I haven't used one yet to see how much damage it will do. I tried to get the DE to make me a bunch of them for a lower price, but he said he didnt like to do bulk orders, and the reason they were so expensive was all the stuff it took to make the R2 chassis.

The best way to use them in PvP is to retrain the droids chase command to the words "For the empire" or "For the rebellion"
Then you call your little droid and you have it stay behind the corner of the building and go off to engage in some action. Soon as you get some agro you run off towards your little droid but it's important to run past it.
Once your pursuers run past the droid turn and face them and hit your new macro.
/panicshot;
/say For the rebellion;
/pause .5;
/peace;
/detonateDroid
Players are like mobs. They'll ignore the droid because they see you and concentrate on one target. If they do turn to the red dot on the radar the droid will be hard to spot and your new command wont alert them like screaming CHASE will. Once the panic shot hits them they'll not be able to fire on the droid anyway.

my problem in using it in pvp is you have to have the droid targeted to use the /detonate droid command.. often the lil buggers are far away and moving and difficult to target. When I tested /target "an mse"; in the middle of nowhere it worked fine, but in a city, it would default to the alphabetically first item with the name "an" in front of it.. making it difficult to macro the detonation sequence.

Group the droid and then you can just click on it in the command list. Distance need not be a problem.

Yesterday,I was in Imp Outpost on Talus. There was some rebs there faction farming and yelled that Talus was Reb from now on.. Now,there was a lonely commando there (think he had flame 4) and I was covert. I pulled my little MSE detonation droid out and made it follow this guy...I was buffed,had 1132 in TKA and took some brandy,and then declared.../detonatedroid,BOOOM! and the guy took -708 damage. He was clearly confused so I knocked him down and spammed UnarmedHit2 in the trueTKA/smuggler way
. 10 secs after he was down... Also gonna try to take out Krayts with these little droids,that are very fun to play with! For example you can leave the droid at a turret,walk away,/detonatedroid and then leave fast as (edit)! TERROR Mohahahaaaa!

Here's the method I use for my lil MSE boom bots.
First off keep the deed(s) in you inventory and out of the crate. This way you can call em in combat. Yeah I know they have a short life expectancy this way, but somtimes they work.
Click on the droid in your inventory.
Click on the following 2macros:
Macro 1: (have the droid's target selected before running this one)
/tellpet group;
/pause 3
/tellpet chase
(adjust the pause to your liking)
Macro 2: (after targeting droid in your grouplist)
/detonate
Then watch theshow. I have to give the devs credit, these things may not be very effective in combat, especially PvP, but DAMN THEY ARE FUN!!!
And no you can't detonate them when using FD.

thats an issue too.. when you're in a group pvp'ing you're nto always within 20m of eachother.. especially when there's cm's present
