Thread: Little story of my gameplay last night

This really doesn't belong in the "Chuckle" thread. I wanted to share with everyone a bit of my gameplay last night. It's this type of interaction that really keeps me as a smuggler.
I'm going to have Master Weaponsmith on my character soon, and I'm in full grinding mode. I was on Corellia, and the lag was terrible, so I decided to go to my city on Dantooine and continue there. Slicing was slow this night. I had only done a couple of weapons and one or two pieces of armor. Most of my business comes from Coronet though, so I usually hang around there.
I off the shuttle at the Imperial Outpost, and as I'm running outside, a guy shouts "Hey Evarn! Wait!"
I stop and turn around, and a guy comes up to me and stops.
"Do you have armor upgrade kits on you?"
I say "Yep. I always do."
He replies "Are they good quality kits?"
I sigh a bit, and explain to him how the quality of them does not matter.
He says "Alright, could you slice this set of composite for me?"
I tell him "Absolutely. It's 5k per item" and just remind him that although Master Smugglers have the best slicing percentage range, it is random. He says that he knows this, and I begin slicing his set.
I didn't write down the slices, but I know I had one 40% encumbrance, several above 35% encumbrances, one or two 30% effectiveness slices, and the rest were in the 20s and scattered between encumbrance and effectiveness.
I hand him back the suit, and he gives me the 45k. He then asks if I'll slice another set of armor for him for 100k credits.
100k credits? That's over double what I charge. But being a smuggler, I do not ask questions when it comes to profit. I tell him "Sure!" and he trades me over the set.
I get him two more 40% encumbrance slices, and some high effectiveness slices.
I give him the set back, and he gives me 100,000 credits. He then asks me "Is your name with an 'n' or an 'm'?
I tell him it's with an 'n' and he responds.
"Oh alright. I always see you, but I never could tell which one it was. I like how you play a smuggler, and would like to make you my exclusive smuggler."
I liked this, because this meant I wasn't just another nameless face in the game. He had seen me around, probably came to me for slices before, and was recognizing me.
I tell him "That'd be great! I'll even put you in a "Travel" category on my friends list, so if you ever need a slice I will travel to wherever you are to do it."
He then says: "Well, I should pay a membership fee," and he tips me 100,000 credits.
I tell him "That's a good idea. I'll keep that one in mind!" and we say our goodbyes.
There was another person there waiting for me to slice his set of armor. I get it, and I do all 9 pieces for encumbrance. A couple of 35s, a couple of 30s, and the rest in the 20s.
He gives me a 10k tip and says he can't do more because he just started the game again and doesn't have enough.
I just tell him to keep me in mind the next time he needs something sliced.
I love playing a smuggler.

I've run into a few people like that. Some people will even wait for me to come online to slice their stuff rather than finding another Smuggler. I guess it's all just a matter of trust. They know they can trust me with their expensive stuff. I always give these people discounts on my slicing services, not only because they're loyal customers, but because they're usually nice people.
They make up for all the morons out there.

I am quite lucky with my customers, I have a very good customer base. Patient people who wait for me to finish killing stuff and come to my waypoint. Of course slicing for overts and role playing helps a lot.

Ive run into a few people like that and they are the best! One client tiped me 200k after a good run on his armor slices. It is one of many reason why I love being a smuggler.

Having been a Master Smuggler for 5 months, I now have quite a few people who will look me up. But I finally found myself the preferred slicer for an Armorsmith, and that has been quite nice. As a Master Rifleman also, my WS friend will often ask me to go hunt a particular animal whose resource stats are very good for making armor. This isn't really "smuggler" work, but I really enjoy performing a service for someone in the game and getting paid very well to do it. Right now, its about as close to smuggling as you can get.
The nicest feeling I've had in a long time was when I accidentally intercepted one of my WS friend's tells:
"I'm sorry, but way'ev-da is my preferred slicer.". I just replied "I think I stole your tell. Thank you."

True,it's agood feeling, when your work is exalted in the game.
After those lucrative "Preferred Smuggler"moments, I usually go find my "Preferred Cantina Dancer" and "/emote flips a wad of credits down your top" and "/emote does a Breath of Heaven body shot on you"

Hey Wayne,
It can still be considered smuggler work... just RP that the animals he wants you to hunt are protected by the Empire.

These stories are by far the best reason to be a smuggler.
I was working on my slicing grind not far back, and while i sat in the cantina i decided to be generous. Saw an apparent newb with the full set of bone armor, and offered to slice it for free. Easy XP for me and I felt like i was doing something for someone else.
Low and behold, a month later she's on the doorstep of being a master WS and remembered the nice smuggler who sliced her suit. We're working out the details on an "exclusivity contract...
I think the one major advantage of slicing being a random activity is that it fosters the smuggler/client relationship. People decide to trust a smuggler personally, instead of shopping around for the best buff numbers or weapon quality.
