Hello I am a new novice smuggler 
Got to say its the most enjoyable proffesion out there and I dont have to wipe out a whole species to get to Master cos of the different xp requirements
Anyway back to the question at hand. Don't the quality of resources make difference in the outcome of anything ?
Like say a laser knife with experimentation adds more charges ?
Spice increased time ?

For now, no. Not at all. There is some debate of the quality of the AUK's and WUK's we have to buy or have made. But no conclusive proof on those last I heard. But as for spices, knives, and clamps... not in the least.
After the Smuggler Luv Patch(tm) though this is supposed to change. But that is quite a ways off. If you are going for Master Smuggler you should be able to get it before then.
