Thread: Another noobie respec!

I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and respec to smuggler. I look forward to annoying you with basic questions of how to slice, where to go for resources to make stims, and how to use feign death to be a loot ninja!

It's so awesome being able to skip all of that mindless slicing and searching for containers to slice. My old profession was sooo much easier to master......what was that profession you ask? I was a Bounty Hunter......pre scout change!

I hope you appreciate the irony!

Seriously though, I hope you old time smugglers don't mind us former Bounty Hunters, Master Rangers, Master Tailors, and Bio-Engineers hanging up our LLC's, camo kits, needles, and DNA Samplers to engage in a life of crime and larceny.

Some of us respec'd players are actually just veteran players looking for a change of pace.

lol.. very nice.

Honestly, whenever I'm tempted to be secretly annoyed by new smugglers who haven't read the FAQ and things, I think about how crazy it is that "smuggler" and "bandwagon" could ever be mentioned in the same sentence, and how great that is for all of us, old and new.

Then I get spooked about not wanting to jinx us and go watch the Food Network until I've had my fix of kicked-up notches.

Welcome to the club.

Welcome to the profession. It's a great one.

I hope there aren't too many new smugglers, though...

lol, i jumped off the bounty hunter bandwagon(although it wasn't REALLY a bandwagon when i jumped on two years ago) onto the smuggler one, the transition has been pretty good, scout crafting transferred to slicing and spice crafting. The only problem i've had is A. i can't make weapon/armor upgrade packs(not that it matters because slicing is broked anyway), and B. there are literally NONE on the bazaar in the whole galaxy(thats bazaar and find vendor). Other then that i'm loving smuggler.

Ps. the stickies here are great

Welcome aboard!

That's an easy one, as any old hats around here are likely to tell you. If you don't have an alt, anyway.

Once slicing is fixed, you will inevitably meet several WSes looking for a slicer to pre-slice a bunch of their stuff. Make friends, and get them to supply your WUKs, either in exchange for slices, or(preferably) by the crate at a reasonable price. Ditto ASes. Bam. Problem solved. I had a nice deal worked out last time I was slicing regularly whereby two or three WSes and ASes would keep around ten crates or so on their vendors for me, and I'd swing through and snag some when I needed them. All but one of them where people I met when they asked me to come slice 50 guns in their factory or somesuch. The last one was a WS/AS/Tailor I'd been going to for weapons and clothes over a lng period, and valued the business enough to do me the favor.

Cynical? Us? It's only been 3 years waiting for our revamp

Welcome to our nefarious lifestyle!

Y'see, I don't mind the respec'd Smugglers too much - the way I see it, the more of us there are, the more pressureis on the Devs for revamping us. LOL

lol like your introduction.

Welcome to the club! The FAQ make a great reading, as other said, and since you are a Smuggler now, you might like to check out the two Smuggler related In Concept threads. Gonna give you an idea of what could come down our way soon.

That said, welcome aboard

I'm a new smuggler too, although i actually mastered it shortly before the cu.

A tip (which is probably in the faq someplace) is to have a weaponsmith and an armorsmith make you a schematic for the auks and wuks using your resources. Then just drop the schem in a factory (you can even borrow factory time if you want) with some of those resources and run a few crates off anytime.

Note, make sure you keep those resources in a bag someplace, as the schems will be unusable after you run out.

Respec smugglers don't annoy me as long as they're not ignorant and pushy. So many stupid questions. "How do I slice my gun?" and "Do I need to use a crafting station? My weapon droid and generic tool won't load the schematics." from 'master smugglers' makes me want to kick people in the teeth.

But read the FAQ's and show a willingness to learn and you'll be fine. Just don't expect people to fall over themselves to help you when you won't help yourself. The community is great but also a very cynical bunch.

Thanks for all of the positive replies. It was the concept thread on the smuggler revamp that sold me on hanging up my other professions. I promise to read the FAQ, second.......I usually try to figure things out for myself first before looking up the answers.

I will be taking some advice from another thread and drop my Master Commando to go back to MBH. I've been finding the broken parts to be frustrating.

My ne'er-do-well, Kellen, hangs out on Tempest. I've never been a very public player, tending to solo, but the CU has brought me out of my shell and I am loving it. I also tend to be a bit schizophrenic and play on multiple servers.
