Thread: Concussion Shot broken?

It says in the description that this combat art is supposed to daze the enemy preventing them from moving or attacking, from what I can tell its only rooting them though. After hitting enemies with this they cannot move but continue to attack. Is this broken or did the Devs change their mind about its functionality before release?

concussion shot is meant to be a paralysis mean that it should prevent ALL actions. This should brake when any adititonal damage is done to the target.


concussion shot is currently working as a root, mean it stops the targets movenment but does not prevent other actions. Roots do not brake when additinal damage is done to the target.


Smugglers are 50/50 in regards to this special some want it to remain how it is, others would like to see the paralysis. I favour the paralysis myself but am quite happy with the root which is very very long and quick to be re-applied.


Don't think there's any offical word from the devs yet in ragards. Go figure.

atm its a perma-root which imo must be a bug.

a bh/smuggler can keep their target there all day (block aside).

you can even use it with say, stopping shot as a safety root over the "transition" period from one conc to the next.


but heh I'm a smuggler, I like it.

If they increase the timer on concussion shot, it will drop Smugglers "5" (speak 3) to 2



We couldn't play SWG without Tiggs. Now we can =)

I find this not the case. Concussion shot is not a perma-root, it drops after 45 seconds when improved is used. Aginst single mobs then sure it can be veiw as a perma root but when fighting more then the short timer is a god send and the short recharge timer is much needed. Stopping shot has a slow recharge and if you use it just as concussion shot is about to run out the root doesn't stick most of the time and is sometimes removed. If concussion shot is about to run out I like to use a snare then reroot with concussion shot. If I'm fighting to mobs then I use stopping shot on the second to give me that little brake. I can take on 3-4 level 80-85 melee Agros with my roots and snares if I'm smart about it.

I don't find mine to be permanent. I'm darn glad to have it since I can't have master dancer, master smuggler, AND pistoleer 0001. (/pout...)

I really like it the way it is now, it makes me very effective in group hunting. We were hunting on Yavin4 the other night and one of the Jedi Iniates was getting his behind handed to him, but because I could root the MOB to the ground, he lived.

Concussion as Rooted rocks.

I like it as a Root, doesn't seem to stick as easily as Stopping Shot, but last a lot longer. Granted it would be nice if it was a Paralysis when fighting solo, but I am having too much fun fighting in a group.

They claim the smuggler is supposed to serve the function of CC though. To effectivly control additinal mobs we would need the paralysis in Concussion Shot. With Paralysis this shot would be the equivalent of Mesmerize in EQ which is used for CC. If the mob can still attack the group the CC functionality is hindered.
