A lot of people want smugglers to be subject to player bounties. I'm one of them. But everyone needs to be more specific. The devs don't necessarily think everything through before implementation. BH's coming after jedi is one thing. But here's what a BH coming after a smuggler would look like: Lastditch misses A BH, You're having trouble seeing clearly, You are on fire, You are bleeding, you are dead. Of course this assumes straight BH, and a smuggler without any other combat skills. of course The smuggler can master tk, but now so can a bounty hunter. smuggler with TKM and master Pistoleer has no room for the exploration tree, for a BH it is required. So a BH will be able to run down a smuggler that tries to flee. Before any type of smuggler bounty system is in place, the combat needs to be tweaked. We need like a paralyzing shot, on a timer, that would let a noncombat leave combat and escape. of course, like a delay, if you hit the target again, it would be removed. Just one little special would alter the smuggler's chances of survival. Especially considering that against a player opponent, our current escape, "feign death", is more, "push this button to destroy your armor and turn your HAM black". I know this came out of no where and everything, but, looking back at all the things that have been put into this game to balance things out AFTER the fact, The devs would probably need a heads up as early as possible. a smuggler specific pistol would be nice too.... lol. something that looks like it was home made. I'll shut up now.

This is exactly why I've been against bounties on us. Sure, it's great in theory, but when you get right down to it in action, we'll be looking at someone wearing 90% base Composite armor and a Krayt Scatter Pistol, both of which we probably sliced, who's buffed up the whazoo and brought three of his guild mates for good measure (I've seen that happen more than once, it may have been fixed, not sure...)
Even a triple Master is going to have trouble with that, and unless something is done to even the playing field (advanced warning to the target, buffs nerfed/removed) we'd be goners.
I KNOW EXACTLY what people will say, "If you don't want to PvP then don't do the smuggling missions/slice/sell spice" whatever... and to them,I say "ECHUTA!" That's not anacceptable option. Period. It is forced PvP, which the Devs said would not be acceptable. Yes, I joined a faction. Yes I know that makes me open to PvP. Yes, I'm okay with that. I never go overt except on extremelyrare occasions. What the player bounties will amount to is either A.) You do the smuggling missions and wind up on the bounty hunter terminals, or B.)You can't smuggle, because you don't want to PvP.
Most of the people that want this are either Bounty Hunters, or uninformed Smugglers that just don't get that not everyone enjoys "the thrill of an unpredictable opponent."
I'm ranting now, so I'll stop while I'm ahead.

Here, here, I agree with Rogue.
If I wanted a bounty on my head and forced PvP I'd be playing a Jedi. Yes I don't mind NPC's gunning for me, but not other players.

The only way I would like it, would belinked to the famous Smuggler Missions. If you mess a Mission up like Han Solo did you get a bounty on your Head.
If I get forced to PvP just because I'm a Master Smuggler and a BH could come arround the next corner anytime, it would be a good reason to drop the Smuggler totally.

They need to fix Jedi Bounties before they put Smugglers in the running for bounties...
Until then, I'm all against bounties on smugglers. Not b/c I am a Smuggler, but b/c I recently on my Alternate/2nd account gave UP BH due to the fact they've once again broken stuff for hunting Jedi - which tells me they lack the competency to make player bounties work.
That is my stance. Until SOE can get their act together, I'd rather let BH's get their Jedi Bounties working FIRST. Then perhaps Smugglers.

what i understand is thatthereare two types of missions one if you fail puts you on the boards and the other doesn't. so if you dont want to pvp then dont get greedy.

The idea was if you do the ones that get you on the Bounty Hunter terminals, you get better rewards... the "Risk vs. reward" thing, which is still stupid, imo.

Institutionalized griefing as a deterrant to high-level content is always stupid. In other words, I agree wholeheartedly.

If I remember correctly, you would basicly choose between missions that were less risky, and failure ment an NPC Bounty Hunter, and the more risky, where failure ment a player Bounty Hunter.
And while I do want Smugglers to be Hunted, I also want the missions to be fixed first.

Let's wait the combat revamp ok? If after that a master smuggler can put up a good fight against a master bounty hunter like a jedi can, then I can consider well the issue, but always bounding it to content like the smuggler missions cited by my smuggling colleagues.

lol last I checked they hadn't fixed anything for jedi bounties. It's still, Jedi murders BH before BH can hit his first eye shot, Jedi runs into his house because BH brought 10 of his friends, or Jedi is just barely put down by a BH who only has Investigation 3 and used the rest of his skill points on TKM and medic. Smuggler's and Bounty hunters have both suffered more than their share of bugs (Was smuggler, went BH, jumped servers and back to smuggler when they changed the BH requirements) and I really feel that a smuggler/bounty hunter interaction would be a great way to give both professions something they've been lacking: something enjoyable related to their profession. They could really do a lot with it, like give Smuggler's droids or gadgets that would help hide them from BH droids, maybe the BH could go back to Jabba personally for his reward after a successful kill, or the smuggler could go to jabba and try to pay him off, etc. BH's have very little entertainment directly linked to their profession, while Smugglers could justifiably change their title to "Hey, send me a tell every two seconds asking if I'll be your personal slice-monkey" but don't get me wrong on that, slicing has resulted in some pretty great chuckle posts. And that's just it, Smuggler at the moment is pretty much a player-created prof, any content related to this profession has been created by the ingenuity of the smugglers, who, as I've observed, tend to be a bit brighter than most, probably because of the nature of the beast. SOE gave us a set of tools, the lekku comprehension, slicing, feign death, and we've produced a 52 page, 1276 post smuggler's tale. None of the other professions can really hold a candle to that, our prof has been broken since beta lol. Kind of rambling here, it's early, I'm tired, so it's kind of a stream of consciousness, but it all gets down tot he fact that I'd hate to see our broken yet wonderful prof turn into something as crappy as jedi, and would definitely not like to see smuggler's everywhere serving as impromptu bonfires for BH's to dance around, as the smuggler quickly triple-incaps from the flames.

same here... well once again on missions. smugglers have feign death, just use that and wait untill the bh loses his buffs or he walks away. sure its not fun knowing you have a hit on you, but thats the profession and the trill of this game that is missing. the hunter and the hunted
