We are all wondering about the smuggler revamp and I would just like the dev's to explain why they aren't sharing some of the ideas they have for that revamp with us. I develop educational software for a consortium of colleges and we found that once we involved the people who would be using a particular part that we were upgrading we ended up with a much better product, so much so that we develop in a live environment now allowing everyone to see what we are doing and to comment. I can't count how many times I have sent my team down one path only to realize after reading the ideas of the end users that we were doing something that they didn't want or need.
While I recognize the need to keep certain content for the game a secret, I don't see how talking to the players about the plans for the smuggler revamp needs to be such a secret. Wouldn't it be better to tell us what is planned now rather than have to go back and revamp it again because we end up in the same place we are now withan almost dead-end profession that people really want to play but can't.
Just because the players are kept informed and allowed to offer feedback doesn't mean that the dev's will have to incorporate all the suggestions but isn't ita little short sighted, not to mention arrogant, to assume that out of all of us who play smugglers and want a good, fun, functional profession we couldn't possibly have anything to offer.

With due respect,
I doubt the dev's are going to tell us anything. Why? Because everytime one of them has said anything and it doen't come to pass they are roasted on these boards. They are learning that the more they say the more accountable they are. Should we have some input, of course. But we will be in the back seat till JTL is released. That is where 90% of the dev resourses are going right now. IO would not expect a Smuggler Revamp till January at the earliest.

what ever happened to the profession vision docs and all that summit stuff they were supposed to show us weeks ago?

That should have been last week.
What happened though, they have to refine it. Not even all the correspondents have read all of this stuff yet.
So they are going through it, making changes, then they will post it for correspondents to review and those who didn't go to the summit a chance to prepare themselves for the onslaught of questions when it is released to the public after that.
They haven't been able to get these docs to all the correspondents yet, much less all of you. I hate looking like a liar when I was told to tell you all what I did, but that's what happens.

If the reason they won't share info is because they are afraid to get "roasted on these boards" then they are in the wrong line of work, no matter what they aren't going to please everybody so someone's going to roast them. Besides that's just an excuse, I regularly get hammered for something I say, on these boards or others, but people calling me names lost it's effect around about the third grade.

I am in complete agreement with the original poster. The most frustrating thing about this game and everything that is going on with it is the lack of communication. And what communication we do get is usually very poor, incomplete, misguided, and inaccurate. I seriously doubt TH or JustG or any other dev who has posted here intentionally lies when they post. But many times they say something and it turns into a lie. This happens either because they run out of time or someone else changes their priorities for them. I am sure there have been times when TH was told to post something even though whoever told him to post it had no intention of actually carrying it through.
Unfortunately TH gets all the hits for this because its always easiest to kill the messenger. Though to be fair, everytime TH, or anyone else, posts something they are told to post even and it does not come true they are just as guilty as the person who did not carry it through. For instance TH may want there to be an auto-pull fix. Someone higher up tells him to post there will be a fix. TH discovers that there won't actually be a fix at any concievable point in time. Now, TH wants the fix, and posted believing there would be one. But by not correcting things he is just as liable as the person who told him not to. Granted he keeps his job this way but he also does the wrong thing.

This is an easy one: They're not sharing any ideas for the smuggler revamp because they don't have any ideas.
All they have is pages upon pages of suggestions from us. Which very likely have not been read by anybody over there besides GreenMarine (and he probably even hasn't had time to read all of it).
They should just make the game's codeopen source, and we could have already implemented all our wish list features already.
