Thread: How the Smuggler revamp should be (if it happens)

Ok now before anything, I am not a smuggler, but if I was this is what I would look for in content. In my oppinion the Smugglers are the most ripped off profession in the game, Squad Leader which has been revamped already is getting a revamp... again.The Smuggler profession should be fun and exciting, I think this would be a benefit to all smugglers.





Missions: Stealing, Delivery's, Pick Up's, Tampering, Spying, Transporting.

1. Each mission reward on completion would be, Furniture/decor, new Spice Schematics, Uber smuggling components, new powerful weapons and weapon schematics, New Armorschematicsor credits

2. Missions would have a mixture of JTL and Ground system.


Stealing:

Players will be given missions by their employers to break into a rival or enemys houses, bases, POI's etc.. They will need to retrieve a specific item and return it to their employer without being caught. The smugglers would be smuggling from NPC's only.


The consequence of being caught: Negative Faction with the opposing faction, Angry employer. Posssible Bounty placed by either the employer or the opposer.


Delivery:

Players will be given a specific item or ammount ofcash to deliver toa contact in a specific ammount of time. You might run into ambushes of opposing factions trying to delay your drop off.When you get to the delivery it could be totally random, the contact could be a no show and end up being an ambush, the Contact might accept the delivery and nothing could happen, you could keep the item and risk the consequence.


The consequence:

1. If you failed to make the delivery and were killed you have cost your employer stress and a bad reputation meaning you loose reputation with them, Faction Loss.

2. If you decided to steal (or fail to deliver on time)the items, a bounty will be placed on your head.


Pick up's:

Players will be assigned to go to a specific location and meet a contact. From there they will pick up an item and make the delivery back to the boss. Meanwhile you will be tracked be an assassin to stop the delivery. You may choose to keep the items rather than to return them.


The consequence:

1. Failure to return the pick up's will result in angering your boss and having bountys placed on your head.

2. Failure to eliminate the assain who made off with the goods would lower your faction status with your employer and you would owe him compensation, failure to pay would put your name on the terminals.



Tampering:

Players will be assigned to interfere with an enemys computer terminals, ships, droid programming etc.. allowing failure. A player would have to sneak into the POI, Base, House etc.. undetected and use their slicing abilities. If caught you could still finish but would have to fight off the enemys.


The consequence:

1. The failure to complete the slicing after being detected would loose faction points and your employers faith in your abilities to carry out further jobs.

2. The failure of being caught while breaking in would earn you a bounty.


Spying:

Players will be asked to go to a certain locations (Mainly cantinas) and listen to private conversations without being noticed. This would be between two npc's. While in the Cantina you'd have a visibility meter and the more noticable you make yourself the more of a chance of failing the mission. If it reaches the max they'd notice you call for guards and make a run for it.


The Consequences:

1. Your lack of stealth has made it clear that your employer is up to something and makes his enemys angered, too take out the frustration your employer punishes you by removing all your faction and allegieance to that person.

2. A bounty is placed on you by the people in the meeting.


Transporting: (JTL ONLY)

You've been asked by private clients to fly them to a certain starport. You would not be able to use the travel option and must launch your ship, the client is very dumb and while your in space cannot decide on where he wants to fly to. You'll find out after breif conversations that your smuggling a top official and that theres a bounty on him. The client well tell you one system to fly to and when you reach that system squadrons of ships will attack you (based on your tier). He will then tell you another system and so forth until he decides which one for sure.


The Consequences:

1. Your ship is destroyed killing your client and his faction ends up removing faction points from you.

2. You have made the clients faction angry and they have placed a bounty on you.






Employers:

Jabba The Hutt, Lady Valarian, Borvo the Hutt, Corsec's, Blacksuns, Canyon Corsairs, The Rebelion, The Empire.Nightsisters, Singing Mountain Clan, Boss Nass, Royal Naboo, Bount Hunters guild remnants, TSF etc.


Each employer would have their own unique rewards and consequences. For instance if you failed one of Jabbas missions you would become incapacitated but it would act as if you were death blowed. You'd load (clone) right next to theSarlaac pit on Tatooine with half of your health black bared as wounds. Darth Vader would force choke you etc...


Rewards: You'd get a unique house decoration with the factions symbol on it. There'd be multiple items from each employer so

that you would want to work for them more often.






New Unique Moves:


Cloak: Smugglers would now get the cloak option and it would function like the jedis version of cloak. (Jedi will no longer be able to use cloak because they never used it in the first place) *wishful thinking*It is in my oppinion that the Jedi should not and should have never been given the option to cloak, and that smugglers should be the ones to have it. Smugglers should be the ones able to walk down to the bottom of the Dungeons undetected to smuggle and loot. Jedis have never used cloak in the movies or the books when it's been known that smugglers do. This could be a great benefit to smugglers.


Smuggler Stealth: You'd have the option to remove yourself from Radar for 10 minutes with a5 minute cool down timer.


Pay Off: You will be able to pay off spynet operatives (tier 4) so that your bounty will no longer be in place.

Thank you for posting something we've posted long long ago. In like, development forums. Where SOE said we should post ideas like this. And they would take them and incorporate them into this new exciting upcomming game called Star Wars Galaxies.


Surely your post won't be ignored and thrown away like the rest of our ideas.


But good job on making it look pretty. Maybe that's why Sony ignored ours. It didn't have color.

Or maybe its because we have been sitting since beta with the broken profession. Remeber, we want good content too. We've listened to over 2 years now of "It is one of our top priorites" and 'It will be ready after the Droid Engineer and Chef revamps/JTL expansion/Combat Upgrade". Oh, and the incredibly famous "[It will be ready] Soon™" And it supposedly keeps not getting pushed back but reorganised into 'long-tem implemtation' Its really starting to take its toll. Also, the 'improved' slicing system is a huge dissappointment to, i believe, most smugglers. Plan B really didn't thrill us, NEEDING loot to do one of the most demanded jobs in the game is horrible, as is the fact we have been exploited as slice monkys and spice fiends.

Maybe seeing that can have some inpact on what has happened with the Smuggler profession. Least for me, I read it and just think "What were they thinking?"

yet another good idea. the problem that we have is it has way to much code that needs to be writen into the game for such a WONDERFUL IDEA. I actualy love it, sounds like fun. But the dev's have told us that when (NOT IF) we are given smuggling missions it would be basicly using stuff ingame right now. that way no art needs to be drawn, and only a few pages of code not hundreds of pages of code.

Atleast I have the profession that I've tried to make better. Let me go make inane posts on your profession's site. Maybe stuff that's been posted 100s of times and ignored by the people that make the decisions. Let me see, what are you, a j3d1? BH?
