Is it true that we are now going to be forced to be the same faction in space as on the ground? In other worlds no more smuggler in space and Imp/Rebel on the ground?? Is this true or a Rumor? Im freaking about this and will be pissed if its true please anyone clear this up for me.

I haven't heard that one - I heard the opposite though (as mentioned in an earlier post) that if you're rebel or Imperial in space, that you'll be treated as such on the ground if you're neutral.

It is in fact the other way around. You can be an Imperial or Rebel on the ground, but Privateer in space, but if you are Imperial/Rebel in space, you'll be changed to Imperial/Rebel on the ground.

Yes and no.
If you're Rebel in space and Neutral on the ground; you will be made Rebel on both. Same goes for Imperial in space and Neutral on the ground.
If your factional on the ground and Neutral in space, you will stay as you are.
This means everyone who went Rebel in space just to fly the X-Wing will be forced to commit to the Rebellion or turn in thier Rebel Pilot's License.
Likewise, the Empire will not train you and certify your Pilot's License for TIEs if you were not going to dedicate yourself to them.
It makes sense, really. Think of it this way, would the US Air Force(or any nation's air force, for that matter) give a Citizen of a Foreign Nation advanced fighter training and the keys to a multi-billion dollar bird?
Basicly put, if you're factional in space, you'll be in that faction on the ground. If you're Neutral in Space, you will undergo no change.

Let me just double check - my understanding (and lord do I stand to be corrected sometimes) is that you wouldn't actually convert to a faction per se, so you would remain neutral on the ground - but for scan purposes you'd be considered an Imperial or Rebel based on your space professions.
Or am I just off the rocker here? ![]()

For those too lazy to click the clicky
* Rebel ground / rebel pilot = no change
* Rebel ground / neutral pilot = you stay in the rebellion and can still fly neutral ships
* Imperial ground / imperial pilot = no change
* Imperial ground / neutral pilot = you stay in the empire and can still fly neutral ships
* Neutral ground / rebel pilot = you are put in the rebellion
* Neutral ground / imperial pilot = you are put in the empire
* Neutral ground / neutral pilot = you stay neutral (civilian)
