Thread: Is SOE now nerfing spices? I heard smugglers will no longer be able to craft them.

To expand upon this, this isn't a nerf, it's actually something that we've been asking for for quite awhile. A great many of us don't craft spices, I know I don't, so smuggling them will actually be more content than crafting them for us.
I am just hoping they tweak the spices...maybe increase the potentcy and time of effector give it new buffing abilities (profession specific that food doesn't offer).
Other wise, I think folks will turn to the crates upon crates of food that will be on the market instead of hunting down a Smuggler for a "fix" that will give a downer to boot.
What will be interesting is to see what skill trees will be put in place whenever SOE starts implementing real smuggler improvements. What will replace the Spice tree?
Also, interested to seeif they give us back a system which doesn't completely rely on pistol XP to acheive Master Smuggler...

The system 'In Concept' at this time is that spices are actually 'Smuggler' Mission based. Most Smugglers seem to be in a greement that this is a good thing. The current point of contention in the forums is whether said missions will involve space travel, Skimming from the shipment, Opt-in PC bounties for failing a mission or whether they will simply be glorified delivery missions.
I believe it was stated as a mission reward item, though they would need to seriously consider making them more beneficial or unique if that will become the case.
Then again, if they became more significant, I bet all of the existing spices will become unusable, destroyed, or stay at their current buff types.
